They appear to be quality levels for Sony cameras recording 1080i, at least for FH and FX. I haven't seen PS, and the Sonystyle website is harder to navigate, and each page more annoying to view, than the last time I was there (admittedly, about 5 years ago). H

PS is the highest bit rate/lowest compression/best quality. FX is lower, FH is lower still. As always, shoot some videos to confirm. PS is also progressive and the Fx modes may be interlaced. A

Jan 25, 2000 7,419 22 81 I just bought a Sony Camcorder and was presented with these choices too. There was no explanation in the manual about them. I googled and turned up pretty much what AkumaX posted. They are various compression options. FX is best, then FH. I don't have PS on mine but I'll guess that's "progressive scan". Basically use FX is quality is important or you are filming something fast moving (like a sporting event, or you are skiing a downhill run or something), FH will save space and allow you to record more video on a given SD/flash card.
