Sep 10, 2015 6 0 4,510 i have a i5 4460 which could be better regarding performance the h81 or b85? i am going with asus h81m-d or asus b85m-g and also i am on very tight budget but i have currently selected asus h81m-d for now , need to decide before buying please suggest anyone. N3rdR4ge

Mar 3, 2014 7,113 61 54,590 Typically, b85 motherboards will offer more USB ports, sata ports and uses pcie gen 3 16x. It won't make your CPU perform any better. N3rdR4ge

It won't make your CPU perform any better. correct with the sata ports, not the usbs. cpu performance will be the same. the b85 has additional software features you most likely wont need such as "Intel Small Business Advantage" and "Identity Protection Technology" . an advantage of the b85 over the h81 is the ability to support dual channel memory and 4 memory slots. h81 only has two memory slots. also the b85 mobos come with two more usb 3.0 ports than the h81, but less usb 2.0. ak47jar3d
