Or if you do get one from nitrotek, go for the hummer one, its a clone of a marder and theres more spare parts and hop-ups

& i wouldnt buy from nitrotek! ..i read just a few months ago of someone buying the XRC2 from them, after WEEKS of waiting it turned out theat they didnt have any stock! . to what ive read nitrotek will take orders, wait as long as possible before they make your order (they dont actually hold stock!) then do a bulk order once they have enough orders to cut postal costs... weather this is true or not??

but in the end he had to wait about 5 weeks before he actually got it lol :(

but imo get a used FG or HPI baja.. save you many headaches & alot of

If you buy a UK supplied FG RTR car, you now get all Futaba radio gear fitted, this is the 3GR handset (40Mhz) and Futaba high torque servos, so dont be fooled by the prices quoted for FG RTR cars on some European websites, as these only come with low end hitec gear, they may be a bit cheaper but the radio gear is not so good, also the UK cars now come with high capacity receiver batteries.

All in all the new UK spec is much better, this has happened due to the change in UK distributor with Ripmax now importing FG, and as they are Futaba main agents i guess it makes sense.

Not sure your comments about Nitrotek are true, orders from the Far East take upto 6 weeks to come anyway, and getting quantities right is an art not many can get right, so give them some credit. The Hummer is an OK kit for the price.

Some of this negativity is unwarranted.Nitrotek are a business like most others and fair enough, not all the models they stock are great. All businesses get things wrong from time to time and the comments on here only reflect the one issue, not the thousands of perfect tranactions that they do.The XRC buggy is ok for the money, they're a bit underpowered but with a few upgrades can be a decent model. The Hummer is a copy of the Smartech Bigfoot and also is a good rig for someone getting into petrol largescale, its fast and 3 of my mates have them and have had no more problems than you'd get with any model. Not everyone has FG or HPI money and may just want one as a stepping stone to something better later on.I've bought 2 models from Nitrotek and the support for spares has been excellent and every time you phone they are very pleasant and do their best to help if there is a problem..... :)

ye i agree with this, im not very familiar with nitrotek as i have never had one, i see a lot of abuse being thrown at them, the fact is many businesses get things wrong, as terminator said the xrc-2 is under powered, with a few upgrades this can easily be solved, maybe if theres issues with the strength and parts breaking there is ally alternatives. The fact is they are a cheap model, good to start with and you get what you pay for. Its like buying a cheap DVD player which will only last 6 months instead of a pioneer which will last twice as long.

Well my XRC buggy is still going strong!!. I think alot is to do with how you maintain it.

We have just been out for another hour long bash, it got ran into a mound of mud full speed, flipped over 4 times very heavy, still ran ok. The only thing that is playing up my Multiplex Rhino steering servo!!!, :( got a loose connection inside, tap the servo it works ok.

If i could afford a Baja SS my 5 year old wouldnt be near it ;)

Steve

Happy XRC 2 owner still on original spur gears

We'll i've had noting but waiting games from Nitrotek, against advice i bought an XRC R2, and after over 2 months of waiting for parts and even sending the car back to them to fix the multiple problems it had when it arrived, I've finally got it back (supposedly fully working now), but just want rid now so if anyone wants to make me any offers before i put it on ebay please PM me

The Drivetrain on the XRC2 will definately cause you headaches, as it strips after 2mins.

IMO If you're on a tight budget you need to go for a second hand Baja that someone has already hopped up. Look for upgrades to suspension, drivetrain (spur) and exhaust.
