#1 · Aug 19, 2009 Coming back from footy, got some juddering and flashing of the ABS light which eventually stayed on. Was just pulling out of a junction, not quickly or anything so shouldn't have been the ESP kicking in or anything. Found a place to pull over, turned her off and on again. Light went off after initial checks. Then just pulling out of a roundabout, again not quickly, it did the same thing again. Here's the vag com scan: Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: Redir Fail! Part No: 1J0 907 379 AB Component: ESP 20 CAN V005 Coding: 00214 Shop #: WSC 31414 2 Faults Found: 01542 - Yaw Rate Sensor (G202) 57-10 - Electric Circuit Failure - Intermittent 01542 - Yaw Rate Sensor (G202) 27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent I've done a search and it appears to be a sensor somewhere around the steering column. Anyone had any problems with this on a 4motion before? See less See more Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions 1 2 #2 · Aug 20, 2009 Update: Had a quick look on elsawin and etka to try and find what part the sensor is incase I have to replace it. On etka there is a combi sensor for accleration and yaw part number 1J2907637A/B. On ebay I found a 1J2907637E for £40. I've just spoken to my local vw dealer parts bloke who says there are two sensors (acceleration and yaw). The acceleration sensor is £145 and the yaw sensor is £419!!!! I think the sensor is under the steering column so I will try and track it down this eve. I'm a bit confused as to why the separate sensors are so expensive. Might have to pop in to the dealer for a chat. Again, anyone with any experience in this feel free to chip in. #3 · Aug 20, 2009 Not had experience of it but I believe the yaw sensor is under the steering column and the acceleration sensor is mounted on the drivers side a pillar IIRC. Heard the sensors weren't cheap either! #4 · Aug 20, 2009 Taken some photos and got numbers. Here's the location, just to the LEFT of the steering column. It's the black box on top of the gold mounting bracket with the connector facing you. A bugger to get the bolts out unless you have the right tool. ;) Image Close up, it's the one at the top of the pic. Image Unplugged with aforementioned tool to undo the two bolts (10mm). Image Here she is. It's got two numbers on it. This one: Image And this one: Image #5 · Sep 14, 2009 Did you have any joy fixing this problem? I have the same issue on an Audi TT and its driving me crazy. I refuse to take it into a dealer because I know they will rip me off. I have heard different opinions, some say it needs Audi to set it up through vag com some say it's a straight forward fit. My friend who is a mechanic refuses to touch it. #6 · Sep 15, 2009 I've managed to get hold of a new yaw sensor for reasonable money so i'm going to try that first. It's really intermittent though. Since it first happened it then took about another week before it happened again. I've cleared the fault and it hasn't come back yet. I'm still going to change the sensor though, probably this weekend. Got a window regulator repair to do as well. [] There are a few of these sensors on ebay. What year is your TT? It may be using the combi-sensor which is a newer part and seems to be a lot cheaper. #7 · Sep 21, 2009 It is a 2001, do you know what is involved in setting it up once it is fitted? #8 · Oct 30, 2009 Maybe a bit late but I have a bill here from the stealers....replace lateral acceleration and yaw rate sensor, code in the new parts fitted,,,,labour £100 plus vat. Parts used : 1J0907657A - 305.51 plus vat 1J2907639 - 88.61 plus vat. This was at 51k and Nov 2006 #9 · Nov 4, 2009 I managed to pick a brand new one up (yaw sensor 1J0907657A) for £60! The old one hasn't gone wrong since so i've not changed it. Sod's law it'll go wrong during its MOT next week! #10 · Mar 22, 2010 Just a little update on this. Hadn't bothered changing the yaw sensor as the fault has never come back. Well on the way out of the work car park, just pulled out of my parking space and got the same warning light on the dash. Did a vag com scan when I got home and got this: Address 03: ABS Brakes Control Module Part Number: 1J0 907 379 AB Component and/or Version: ESP 20 CAN V005 Software Coding: 00214 Work Shop Code: WSC 31414 2 Faults Found: 01423 - Lateral Acceleration Sensor (G200) 57-10 - Electric Circuit Failure - Intermittent 01423 - Lateral Acceleration Sensor (G200) 27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent So that's the Lateral Acceleration sensor playing up now! [] Anybody want to buy a golf??! #11 · Mar 22, 2010 ok i had this prob on my 4motion and this is what i done and never had another problem with it since i done it http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=153716 worth a try mate #12 · Mar 22, 2010 Thanks for posting that. Will give it a go tomorrow. [Y] #13 · Mar 23, 2010 no probs mate the prob i had with mine was everytime i pulled away from a rounderbout or anytime i acclerated reasonble hard the lights for traction contlor came on if i stop the car then restarted they would go off for 10 mins then the same thing happend done a vag com check and came up as accleration sensor was gonna buy a new one but done a search and found that "how to" followed it and never had it come back on i can't rember the exact figurs but think it should be reading 0-0.4 and mine was reading 6+ (opps) done a reset and alls good now i did reset them both (long and lat) while i was at it #14 · Mar 29, 2010 Just had a look at mine and lateral acc (group 004 in the ABS block) is reading 0.27 m/s^2 when on my flat driveway. The other acceleration reading (group 6) is reading 0.876 m/s^2. [:S] I don't get the message saying 'Control module has accepted the login' after doing the login. Did you get that message? That's with the latest version of vagcom (908.1 I think). #15 · Mar 29, 2010 yes mate i did get that message and also yes i am useing 908 i followed that "how to" and it worked first time but, i have had in the past if i did,nt type right number or done something wrong that i had to turn ing off unplug the vag-com wait 10 sec then redo the prosses i have done this on 2 diffrent cars my 4mo and mates tt and it worked fine both times if you keep getting problems contact ross tech and ask the tec department sorry i do'nt know what else to sugest #16 · Mar 29, 2010 I think it might be down to the type of cable. Found this a page on after the one you posted above: It all depends on the cable u use: Did some research myself for the ON/OFF/NEXT button and found out that my cable/vagcom uses the KW1281 protocol and your cable/vagcom uses the KWP2000 (KWP2089) protocol! This is why you see the ON/OFF/NEXT button and I don't! (you=tony rigby) From Rosstech's website: On Controllers using KWP-2000, there is now an [ON/OFF/Next] button that allows you to initiate and exit Basic Settings while still being able to see the values in the measuring groups. So if you don't use the KWP2000/2089 protocol like myself, you can reset values by just hitting the 'GO' button! Not sure what cable mine is, it's a genuine Ross-tech USB one, says hex+can on the connector. Will try the 'GO' button tomorrow. #17 · Mar 29, 2010 free bump mum use to ahve one a few years back and it kept flashing up they never managed to fix it either but they did not know about vagcom i bought the golf tdi as a non runner because of a common 16pound relay problem its a joke #18 · Mar 30, 2010 Just found this on ross tech's site: 03-ABS Brakes: -- KWP-1281 (earlier cars) or KWP-2000 (2001+ models) VAG-COM works fine So that explains the different protocols. #19 · Mar 30, 2010 ah ok to be honest i don't know what potocol mine is its a hex-usb-can one my 4mo is a 2001 #20 · Mar 31, 2010 Ah yes, then you'll have the KWP-2000 protocol. I'll try sending ross-tech an email tonight. Both sensors are within -1.5 & +1.5m/s^2 though which is what they're supposed to be according to what i've found on the ross-tech wiki site: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_(1J)_Brake_Electronics_(MK60) I've found a link to a german site where someone was having similar problems, they took the sensor out, removed the casing and found cracked solder joints. Re-flowed the solder and then it worked ok. Might give that a go if the vag com reset doesn't play ball. #21 · Mar 31, 2010 lol lol yeah i found that link to the german site bit too fiddly for my fat fingers #22 · Apr 12, 2010 Update: Emailed ross-tech about this and their guess is that the mk20 system doesn't work in quite the same way as the mk60. Hopefully the act of accessing the group for the lateral acceleration sensor in basic settings actually performs the basic setting (hope that makes sense). Anyway, I removed the sensor last thursday eve as it was still throwing codes every other day or so. Removed the black silicon type gunk to reveal the circuit board. Then re-soldered the main connector thru-hole connections (just in case there was a dry solderjoint). I've put the sensor back in and now i'm going to leave it for a couple of weeks to see if the fault returns. #23 · Apr 12, 2010 thanks for the update i was wondering how you got on with this ,hope that has sorted it for you mate [:)] #24 · Apr 15, 2010 Another update, managed to get a bit of a clear run around a large round-a-bout on the way in to work today. Gave it some beans as I exited and managed to get the traction control to kick in. The light did the normal flashing on the dash and all seems ok still. [Y] #25 · Apr 18, 2010 [H] nice repair mate #26 · Apr 20, 2010 Spoke too soon! Came back on at the weekend. Only the one fault this time, can't remember if it was the Electric Circuit Failure or Implausible Signal. Going to try removing the board and resoldering the surface mount chip this time. Latest price on these from the dealer is £133 inc VAT. 1 2 This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
