Xiao Long Bao
$5.50 · 51 ReviewsIt is impossible to resist these fresh silky smooth dumplings which are packed full of minced meat, swimming in a fragrant, slightly tongue numbing and yet tangy pool of Szechuan chilli oil sauce.
Zhong Guo La Mian Xiao Long Bao serves a strangely addictive Szechuan dumplings in red chilli oil (红油抄手) which manages to be sweet, sour, spicy and savoury all at the same time.
You will definitely not regret an order (or two) of these delicious dumplings.
After a (long) 3 months break, Zhong Guo La Mian Xiao Long Bao at Smith Street FC is finally back!
This stall is one of my go-to places for xiaolongbaos at non-DTF prices. I love that each dumpling packs a substantial amount of filling within a thin and smooth skin. Their XLBs contain much less "tang" as compared to DTF The soup stock is also robust and packs quite a meaty punch. It's a matter of personal preference but there might be some though who find it a little too "Xing" as compared to DTF's lighter and subtly sweet "tang" instead.
Judging from the queues, I think most diners don't mind!

Unfortunately the guo ties here are so-so :-( the filling is flavourful but I think the skin can be improved! The standard is not v consistent, unlike their XLBs. First time I had it, I rly enjoyed it. But the second and third time I tried, the skin was v doughy (hard to chew) and a little too thick for my liking.
Best XLBs ever!!! I’ve been going back for at least 4 times ever since my friend recommended it to me. It’s affordable, accessible and legit yummy. I’d totally choose this over DTF’s xlb any day – I do think it’s more flavourful than DTF.
Expect a queue if you’re going down on the weekends or weekdays (dinner time) but not to worry because they are very efficient so the queue moves v fast! All your orders are freshly made and honestly idk where else to find a better deal :’) please give it a try if you’re in the area!!
Debated over whether to get guo tie ($6.50 for 10) or xlb but got this in the end. Really love the meat filling because its so yummy!!!! The chives also add a nice fragrance and balances the taste v well! The skin is crispy (tho slightly oily but I'd say that's normal) so yUM!!!
Rating: 8/10
Little balls of soupy goodness at hawker prices! Really giving dintaifung a run for their money. We had 10 pieces of xiaolongbao for $6.50. This is definitely a must try if you’re in Chinatown.

This shop is really famous but I found their XLBs to be average. Other hawker centre XLBs have impressed me more in terms of juiciness and evenness of the XLB skin. As you can see in the image, the XLBs were a little misshapen.
Admittedly, it’s extremely good for its price, but I’d rather pay more to get a better XLB.

The handmade dumplings are as plump as ever with a meat mixture wrapped beneath the dumpling skin. Freshly wrapped and steamed, the dumplings are joined by a chilli oil concoction with additional chilli flakes joining the party for an explosion of flavours in your mouth. Trust me, join the queue for this and you will not regret. _________________ Zhong Guo La Mian Xiao Long Bao Address: 335, Smith Street, Chinatown Complex Market & Food Centre, Unit 02-135, Singapore 050335 _________________ #hawkersg #hawkerfood #sghawker #jiaklocal #hawkerhopping #OurHawkerCulture #burpple #burpplesg #foreverhungry #sgfood #sgig #sgfoodies #instafood_sg #instasg #setheats #hungrygowhere #singaporeinsiders #foodstagram #foodphotography #instafood #buzzfeedfood #aworldtoeat

chanced upon this stall at chinatown complex food centre and saw a really long queue.. only to find out it’s recommended by Michelin... must be good. indeed it was good!! Xiao long bao ($6.50 for 10 pieces, 2 baskets of 5) was freshly made. The skin was silky and smooth, meat was sweet and juicy. The dish that i like the most was the La Mian with fried bean sauce ($3.50). Pan Fried dumpling/ Guo tie ($6.50 for 10 pieces), there’s chives in it so not my thing haha prefer the xiao long bao. Where to find such high standard food at this pricing? Definitely worth trying, Do check out!
