Complete waste of money and time.1 Donna o. 3y · Horrible – This didn’t take any colour out just left my hair stinking of burnt hair for weeks. I'm amazed at how long a bad smell can stay in your hair! Show details
Follow-up 3mo · I have overall straight hair that is prone to a bit of frizz My original hair colour is dark brown The colour was in for the recommended time (I can't remember, it was months ago. 20 mins? 40 mins?) but I'm a stickler for the rules! NOTE: It's about 4 months later and when I shampoo my hair I can still smell remnants of the colour remover. At least now it disappears once my hair is dry!
I was unsure because of the bad reviews but I gave it a go and it's amazing! My bright cherry red hair has gone to dark caramel blonde to brown (the thicker parts of my hair are darker). My natural colour is brown. It's a dramatic result for one treatment. Although the products are drying, it's nothing a hydrating mask can't fix. I saved a lot of money coz I would've gone to a hairdresser otherwise and spent hundreds. So glad I tried this.

Waste of time, waste of money, extremely pungent ...and no customer helpline number on the box. Followed the instructions to a T, and nothing happened but just a .01% and mind you I am like 60% or more grey. Plus I used 2 applications as on instructions Show details
Chemical burns despite patch test – Despite doing a patch test, I have such horrible chemical burns from this product. The consistency meant that even with glad wrap secured around my hair, the product dripped onto my head, ears and neck for the hour duration of treatment. I wiped it away, but because it’s so thin, it continued to drip and these areas are now burned. 24 hours later… Read more
and the burns are getting worse and worse with oozing sores. I’ve never ever had a reaction like this to a hair product before. Buyer beware!
Excellent – This product is amazing had to use 2 boxes the second pic is the 1st box on day 1 and the last pic is when done on day 2 Show details
Red to red – Don’t waste your money and time. Had red hair and used this product, it did almost nothing for me! Long and complicated process and barely any difference. Very disappointed. Show details
Dont waste your money! – Absolute waste of time and money, the only difference is my hair is now dry and a bit more ginger (in the light) Show details

Did exactly what I expected it to (and I've used this product many times) – Every couple of years I like to remove all the colour build up from box dying my hair dark brown every 4 or 5 weeks year round. I have always used this brand and apart from the very first time many years ago - got a shock from my hair going from dark brown to bleach blonde. It was my fault however, I hadn't read the instructions properly, I then… Read more
remembered my hair dresser had used a pre lightener in my hair to brighten up my red ANYWHO this did not put me off and as I said I use this product alot and love it!
Tips: Follow the instructions! Make sure you wrap in cling film and keep your head warm (I wrap my hair in an old towel over the cling film) Rinse rinse rinse! And make sure you really get that buffer in there! The new formula doesn't smell nearly as bad as it used to and I just make sure to have several windows open when applying (it's really not THAT bad)
My hair has alot of gray these days so it does not go to my *natural* colour but to a caramel brown colour which I leave for a month or so before I get bored and recolor.
Works as it's supposed to – When natural hair is coloured, there's usually a bleach involved - so even a box dye contains bleach / ammonia to lift natural colour and then deposit the desired colour. A colour remover only removed that deposited colour - it cannot undo the bleaching part. This means that if your hair has a naturally yellow or orange base, this is what the… Read more
remover will take you back to - no product can return your hair to it's virgin colour!
The most important part is the rinsing - the solution applied breaks the bonds within the hair, but the colour will only come out with rinsing and rinsing and rinsing.
Unlike a bleach, it won't lift surface stain dyes (eg. manic panic or fudge) - it only works to break bonds within the hair to allow it to be rinsed away.
The smell is no worse than any other sulphur based solutions (eg. perm solutions), but better to use in a ventilated area if you're sensitive to it.
I had dyed my hair a warm, light brown over the winter and wanted to bring it back to my more natural dark blonde for the summer. It returned my hair to it's base, lifted colour and a toner was all I needed to bring it back to my usual.
info for customers – before this product changed the buffer it did exactly what it says on the box. some members on here have said harsh chemicals have made there hair fall out. if you live in uk England this box contains no harsh chemicals at all, it does not ruin your hair or make hair fall out, ( it will only dry the hair ) please read instructions… Read more
properly before using this because if the old version buffing method isn't followed to the letter using a timer it will not work & your hair could darken again after a few days to how it was this is what gives you the final result what you want from the box sometimes depending how porous & the colour depth in your hair you may have to use it upto 3 times. but this can be be done safely without damage, , if you live in us apparently this same brand contains a form of bleach. but in uk England it does not have any harsh chemicals that would damage the hair, due to our strict safety guidelines set by our government, the smell is lingering I know, but after a few washes i find the smell goes after a couple weeks this is washing hair twice a wk, my 1st review on this on here, is Purley based since the box says NEW formula this is the buffer change I found it had no effect on removing the red where as before the change it did in on sitting
i would just like to finish by saying I'm not a pro but used to use this quite often with great results every time, sometimes I had to use it a second time to get a little bit more stubborn colour out,
IF YOU SEE THIS BOX WITH WORDS "NEW" TOP RIGHT THE BUFFER HAS CHANGED I FOUND PRODUCT DID NOTHING IN REMOVING ANY OF MY RED HAIR DYE UNLIKE BEFORE THE BUFFER CHANGED

Review of product – It worked for me but you have to use it exactly how they instruct you to use it. I also hadn’t box dyed my hair for about 4 months which may have helped. Also it dries your hair so I used bond repair treatments and a moisturising hair mask afterwards. Smell isn’t that bad but it does linger a bit.

Compare allWould highly recommend – Would highly reccomend this product. I have been box dying my hair black for years. I wanted to go back to my natural colour & let my greys grow out, but the contrast between the black dye & my medium brown hair looked awful (the regrowth was extremely noticeable). After using this product I am now back to my medium brown colour, no regrowth line… Read more
& although my greys have a slight brown tone to them, they look like highlights & my greys blend in. My hair stayed super soft & doesn't look or feel damaged at all.
Does what it was supposed to – I’ve been dying my hair box dye Mystic Violet for over a year but as I’m going grey I need to start going blonde. I used this before a hairdressers visit to speed things up and save some money. I believe it’s worked, of course I was going to go slightly ginger but it’s definitely removed the colour build up and pigment Show details

Scam scam scam !!!!!!!! Do not waste your money on this product as it does not work !!!!! Time wasted , money wasted will no results !!!! It should be taken off the market as it is false advertising !!!!! Minus 5 on star rating . We should all be refunded our money and more !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Show details
Should be able to give zero star. This product absolutely stinks, it barely removed any colour, amd it absolutely trashed my hair, like clumps coming out trashed. It would have been cheaper, faster, stunk less, been more effective, and trashed my hair less to just bleach it. How is this product even on the shelves?? Absolute garbage Show details
PreviousWASTE OF TIME & MONEY- I followed the instructions to a tee. A 90 minute process and made no difference at all. 15 - 30 minutes of rinsing required, depending on hair type. Doesn’t mention any of that on the box! Show details

Does not remove black built in hair dye – Does not remove box black hair dye It maybe because I have dyed it black for a year I used two boxes and now have ginger roots and black hair still Misleading as box says removes black/semi/permanent dye Was dry after second application but put on a mask and is fine Show details
Powder version DO NOT BUY – Usually I've used the version where everything is liquid. It works great though it smells like rotten eggs. This time there was a powder in the box and I thought they must've reformulated it or something. It didn't smell as bad but let me tell you. It ruined my hair. It didn't remove colour. Whatever thetu did to this great product is horrible. Show details
Product does not work – I purchased this item from Coles (Australia) they are a stockist of this item. Just want to let you know this item does not work. I followed the instructions, put this chemical in my hair to remove the colour and it did nothing. So your chemicals do not work. It should be removed from the shelves. Show details
Worked OK but long process and horrible smell – The products worked to an OK extent so I am reasonably happy but the process is a bit laborious with three hair risings of five minutes each. My hair is a bit lighter and the condition doesn’t seem too affected. The worst aspect of the process was the product smell - it’s so awful that I won’t use this product again! Using a clarifying shampoo at the end helped a bit with the smell in my hair but my house stunk the whole day. Show details

Compare allAbsolutely awful..not worth the money at all – Didn’t remove any colour at all. My hair is still almost black. I have bleach underneath and only dyed it dark brown so it should’ve lifted easily. Terrible product.i used two boxes too!! Show details
Exactly the result I was hoping for! – I was very nervous using this product for the first time and I did received the exact result I was hoping for! I follow the instructions exactly and yes it stripped out the fading red highlights that I didn’t want and it restored my hair back to my natural brown and highlights and it feels so amazing. I don’t normally review products but felt… Read more
the need to share, in case others were as nervous as I was. Thank you for creating a product I could safely use at home and do myself. It’s the best!
Hair colour remover – I had dyed my hair silver but it went blue, used the hair remover worked great went back to my original blond colour I only used 1/2 bottle because I have short hair, but the chemical smell is terrible
Worked really well for me. Very happy with the results! – Worked a treat for me! I didn't end up using the whole bottle because I have quite short hair (40 year old male). The smell wasn't an issue for me, in fact, it was quite pleasant. For a lighter effect, I would recommend drying your hair during the treatment processing time more than the regular 15 minute recommendation. Overall, very happy with the results! Show details
Not very effective – I have med/long hair, used 2 boxes. Followed instructions to the T! Kept warm during the processing time. It resulted in very minimal lift. Slightly lighter but VeRy minimal result. I wouldn’t recommend, also found in the cleansing process with bottle C, really dried my hair. I had my hair in really good condition but unfortunately this has taken it back quite a bit and in need of a trim now. Show details
PreviousDo not waste your money or your time – I spent €13 of boots points on this rubbish. Followed the daft instructions, exactly, full hour on,hairdryer etc. Not a drop of colour came out of my hair, as dark as it was. The only true thing written on the instructions is, it will make your hair dry and brittle. Over an hour and a half of my life I won't get back. It shouldn't be legal to produce useless products. Save your money and go to the salon. Boooooooo! Show details
Waste of money – Followed instructions to the T on jet black hair. One packet left me with black red hair (cherry black) did another packet two days later no difference.. very disappointed ☹️ Show details
Waste of my money – I have dark brown hair after using this and following thier instructions my hair is still dark brown I am so disappointed . I wouldn't recommend this for people with asthma or COPD . Show details
