Domino's Cinnastix With Dipping Sauce (Copycat)

Sweet Cinnamon Stix just like delivery, only better! Add on sweet dipping sauce to make pizza night extra special without calling Domino’s!

This recipe benefits from using a similar dough to my Pizzeria Garlic Knots, which are so delicious. The real differences are the oil used in the dough and how it is baked.

Sabrina’s Domino’s Cinnastix with Dipping Sauce (Copycat) Recipe

The original Cinnastix are basically half a pizza dough with a butter substitute, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, then baked. This recipe makes a full tray of slices with all-natural ingredients and actual butter. Something else to consider is that these won’t even cost you a dollar. Okay, okay, maybe for the whole batch *which is twice what you would get at Dominos* this recipe may cost a dollar.

Chef’s Note: Dough

The great thing about this dough is that you don’t have to take the extra time to let it rise. If you do let it sit, it will be slightly chewier and more flavorful, but the beauty of this dough is that it doesn’t need the extra time. We also add the cinnamon sugar in two parts to the dough, half before baking and half after. This makes for a nice crunch on the dough where the sugar caramelizes in the oven, and has a soft coating of fresh cinnamon sugar for after, which will leave a nice cinnamon sugar lipstick on you with each bite!

  1. So I read the comments before making this for the first time and noticed mention of dough thickness/density, here are the things I did differently which I belive makes a difference. After I mixed the ingredients together I had kneed the dough for about 3 to 4 minutes so the dough would come together and so that the texture was a bit smooth. Then I let the dough rise for 1 hour, then I rolled it out to the desired shape and cut the strips, placed them in the baking pan (lined with parchment paper) and then let it rise again for about 30 to 45 minutes. I had to bake it for 25 minutes because it was still raw after the suggested 10 to 12 minute time-frame (I guess it depends on the strength of the oven) I believe that this helped with the dough because it came out light and soft. I hope this helps someone.

  3. Idk if I did something wrong but I didn’t think it was like dominos at all!! The dough was thick and tasted like flour!

  5. hi!! so i just tried the recipe and honestly the dough recipe is AMAZING !! and the dough was easy to kned and work with but the icing is not the best, im not sure if my powdered sugar was old or what but the icing was wayyyyyy to sugary i ended up not using it but the actual cinnamon dough stix are great by them self too other than that amazing recipe !!!

  8. I had some leftover pizza dough and needed to use it up. It wasn’t enough for another pizza so I decided to make this. My dough was obviously fully prepped for a pizza so it’s been kneaded. (Kned? lol) My problem is my stix were chewy and I’m thinking it’s because the temp on the oven was so low. We cook pizzas at 450-500. The cinnastix should also be cooked at that temp, so next time I will do that and post back to see how they come out. I loved this recipe anyway so I’m giving it 5 stars! It was super easy to make (mostly because I had leftover dough) 15 min. from start to finish. Will def. be making again. (I have a breadmaker so pizza dough takes 90 minutes. )

  9. Tried your Easy Mongolian Beef the other night and hubby was blown away by how good it was. So I have been scouring your site and bookmarking new recipes to try and came across this one that sounds divine but I think there may be some steps missing between #3 and 4.

    Reply
    1. So glad you are loving the site! To clear up any confusion, there aren’t any steps missing. This recipe is super easy and you basically mix the dry, add the wet and roll it into the rectangle. No need to let the dough rise for it. Hope this helps!

  10. You never said to mix ingredients or knead themes. Do I use a mixer or by hand and for how long?

    Reply
    1. I just mixed the ingredients together. I didn’t knead it at all.

  11. Hi!! I have a question about the dough. I made it but it didn’t bake the way I wanted it to. it tastes very weird and I think the dough was a bit thick when I cut it… Is there a specific way to cut the bread so that It bakes nicer???

    Reply
    1. You can make it in two batches and roll it out thinner so it’s not as thick.

  12. Icing needs a lot of work. Followed the recipe exactly and this is why I only have it a 3 star. Any tips? Icing gets hard after adding the correct amount of milk and ends up tasting like cardboard.

    Reply
    1. The icing will harden up after sitting for a bit (Domino’s does the same) so if you warm it up a little, it should soften back up.

      Reply
    2. how old is the powdered sugar? Older sugar will taste funky. It’s still good, but just has an “old” taste to it.

      1. I’m so excited to make this! I LOVE Domino’s icing so much and use to put it on everything! I would order one serving of a dessert and then add 25 icings on the app. Oh the looks I got when I picked it up! I would spend $8 on the icing alone. I no longer live in a city and rarely eat out when I do go to town so I am thrilled!

  13. I just wanted to ask about the powdered sugar? It says 4 cups and i have a feeling that its incorrect since in my shops they only sell packets of powdered sugar that wont even be able to fill up 2 cups. maybe you meant 1/4 cup?

    Reply
    1. 4 cups is the correct amount for the dipping sauce. 1/4 cup won’t give you enough dipping sauce for your sticks.

  15. Can you use self rising flour?

    Reply
    1. It is not recommended to substitute self-rising flour for other types of flour since a leavening agent has been added.

      Reply
  16. Is there an alternative to use for the active yeast? I do not have the active yeast

    Reply
    1. I’m sorry, I wish there was a fun/easy swap but I would stick with the active yeast.

      Reply
  17. How long do you let the dough rest/rise before rolling out into a rectangle? I imagine that you do let it rise before baking, correct?

    Reply
    1. Not very long at all, 15-20 minutes? I use the no rise dough so it isn’t too long of a process. If you want to give it more rising time it will only be better, sometimes I let it rise for 30-40 mins if I am working on other parts of the meal. But really, it’ll be pretty delicious if you just make it immediately.

  40. Let me tell you what I love about this recipe! My mother in law orders Cinnastix from Domino’s pretty frequently and she ices each piece, but I am not really an icing gal. I would much rather have them this way where I can choose how much or how little icing I want with them. Mmm, I bet your kitchen smells great when these come out of the oven.

    1. Yeah the kitchen smelled so good! My husband used to pour the icing over them all too, I made him stop haha.
