This page contains information on how to perform a sequence break in Metroid Dread to obtain the Morph Ball Bomb earlier than the story normally allows. This will actually let you defeat Kraid during the second phase in a single attack, and can be extremely useful to bypass most of the fight.

In order to perform this sequence, you must first obtain the Varia Suit from the Artaria Region - see the Walkthrough here.

See the Video Guide Above for Details

Get the Grapple Beam Early

Instead of returning to Cataris to fight Kraid, travel to Dairon to collect the Grapple Beam early.

Make your way into the furnace room, which you can reach by going left from the Total Recharge Station, and then breaking the blocks with your blaster in order to get into the bottom level. The furnace room is just to your right.

Shoot the block in the lower-right corner and destroy the wall below to reveal the hidden passage.

Slide and then wall-jump up into the morph-ball passage, then slide and jump to reach the wall at the other end. (This may requires precise timing and may require a few attempts)

Destroy the wall and take the hidden elevator back to Artaria.

Next, drop to the bottom of this shaft and head through the door to reach the room with the Grapple Beam.

Then, return to the elevator and take it back to Dairon.

Head through the furnace room and past the save point to make your way into the next area.

WARNING: this area is an E.M.M.I. zone

Make your way up through the E.M.M.I. Zone and through the door at the top. Use your Grapple Beam to remove the block and proceed upwards.

The door to the bomb room is in this area, but you’ll need to turn the power back on first.

Once the power’s on, destroy this wall on your right to return to the previous room. You can now get through the door at the top of the room to collect the bomb.

How to Kill Kraid Easily With the Morph Ball Bomb

Return to Cataris and proceed as normal to the Kraid boss fight.

When the fight reaches its second stage, turn into a morph ball and bomb the left wall to open a path into this cannon to finish the fight immediately.
