Preheat the oven and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine pancake mix and milk with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms.

If you’re adding any extras like cheddar cheese or herbs, fold them into the dough.

On a work surface, sprinkle more pancake mix.

Transfer dough to the floured surface and knead the dough lightly about 10-12 times.

Roll out the dough to a 1/2 inch thickness.

Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits from the dough. Re-roll any scraps and cut out additional biscuits until all the dough is used.

Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are close but not touching to help them rise.

Brush the tops with a little melted butter for a golden finish.

Bake for 10-12 minutes in a preheated oven until your biscuit dough turns golden brown.

Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack.

Can I use any type of pancake mix to make biscuits?

While most major pancake mix brands can be used to make biscuits, it’s best to choose a plain or buttermilk pancake mix without added flavors or mix-ins for optimal results. Our favorite is the Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake Mix or Bisquick Pancake Mix.

How to Store Biscuits

Keep your biscuits in an airtight container or zippered freezer bag, in a cool and dark place.

Can I freeze these homemade buttermilk biscuits?

Yes, you can freeze biscuit dough. Shape the dough into individual biscuits, place them on a baking sheet, and freeze until firm. Then transfer the frozen biscuits to a resealable bag and store in the freezer for up to 3 months. Bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.

How to Reheat Biscuits

Place your biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment or sprayed with non stick cooking spray and heat them at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes, giving them a quarter turn half way through.
