Hello, I've had a server up for about a month now, and I've had several rather dedicated players for the longest of time. The problem is, one of them has been asking for Admin for a while now, and I denied it to him because in truth, why should I trust someone I don't know. Recently my best friends from reality have started playing the server, and I ended up giving them admin because I trust them...... I realize that now to be a mistake. I'm not sure if his name is recognizeable at all, but I am now being hacked by a rather angry player called Latwor. So far he has made two assualts on my server. 1.)He hacked an Admin's account and spawned an army of ender dragons to destroy our spawn. 2.)He recently hijacked the server client and crashed the server. I know this is not a normal crash, because as I was shutting the client down, I got a message from someone bearing a tag that is the equivalent to my name in reality. "I warned you" is all I managed to read before my PC froze up entirely, probably because he editted the server's memory usage to fill of my computer's maximum Ram. I haven't, in truth, tried anything to stop him yet. In order to insure I can repair any damge he causes, I made a backup of the server and sent a copy of it to each of my admins. I was hoping that if he were to log in, I could use the "Whois" command to get his IP and add it manually to the list of banned IPs. Another thing I was thinking may work is to change my port. Problem with that is, though, is that my players would be inable to log into the server unless I gave it to them. Help, anyone? Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

Perhaps you should ban the player you think the hacker is. Another idea(more extreme) would be to delete the server and start a new one. With the same map, whitelist, etc. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack I've been a Minecraft player since Beta 1.7, still my favorite game! Twitter: @EvanLange7737

Figured out the warning message was from one of my plugins. Something random that was coded in for when the server was stopping. I use Tim the Enchanter, and my name is Tim....And banning the player is something I have already done. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

If he is crashing the server and causing serious network/software problems you need to report him to your ISP if you privately host the server because generally if you have a good internet service provider, they don't take any forms of hacking lightly. If you rent a host then the host should be taking care of it. Last edited by jjrambo97: Mar 18, 2012 Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

Guess I can do that. The thing is, my parents don't know I'm hosting this. Not sure how they'll react. Anyways, here's his most recent assault: entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem 2012-03-18 18:46:27 [INFO] Fetching addPacket for removed entity: CraftItem And that was spammed at least 5 times. I don't think that is a hacker, because I get those messages too. I am not sure what causes it and its harmless as far as I know. I could be wrong though. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

This a pretty common thing and is fairly harmless, but not that it should happen. Rollback Post to Revision RollBack

I don't see anything to worry about in your post. Make sure that all your admins use strong passwords. I just discovered what was going on.......Some hacking was involved, but it was more an Ex-admin conspiracy than anything else. One night I got REALLY pissed and removed my oldest Admin's Admin commands. He came back the next day, had his buddy OP him, and went ahead destroying the spawn. Then, wanting to get his admin back and laugh in my face, he made up the lie about the hacking and had me ban an innocent player. I figured he was never hacked because I realized the server had logs an his IP never changed. That specific admin new how to hack, so that also explains the hacked-in crashes.
