The Grappling Hook is one of the most enjoyable tools to use in Dying Light 2 Stay Human. It’s meant to give you momentum as you swing from one place to another and can hook onto nearly everything. You can perform a lot of fun tricks with it or use it to escape any situation in style. But unlocking the grappling hook does require you to play a bit of the main story first. How to Unlock the Grappling Hook

The Grappling Hook is locked until you reach the Main Quest Broadcast. Even then, the grappling hook isn’t given to you until you’re nearly done with the entire mission. But the second you unlock the grappling hook, you’ll be greeted with a prompt as shown below.

What’s nice about using the grappling hook is that it’s fun to use and extremely simple to understand. It takes up one of your four Accessories slots, and if you want to equip it, you don’t need to look at your inventory; just press the hotkey option, and you’ll be able to equip it right away.

Once you have it out, you’ll notice that you’ll have a small reticle locking onto objects on your screen. Those are places you can throw your grappling hook onto. You can use the hook while on the ground, and you’ll receive a slight boost in where you’re going, but other than that, it won’t do anything else.

But once you have the hook out and begin to swing around, your stamina will start to drain like it would if you were using the paraglider.

Where the grappling hook shines is when you’re falling from the sky or using your paraglider. When used while in the air, you’ll gain a lot of momentum and be able to swing across with ease. And if you’re fast enough, you’ll be able to open the paraglider again and continue flying.

The only downside to using the grappling hook is that it can’t be used as a weapon. At times it may seem it’s being locked onto an enemy, but in reality, it’s locking onto the ground behind them. So don’t try to hook enemies towards you with it because you’ll end up jumping towards them.
