Irish Potatoes Candy Editors' Pick Submitted by Steve P. "This recipe contains no potatoes. It gets it name from the look of the candy. I have not tried this recipe myself. It is for an ISO request. Recipe says you can also dip in melted chocolate for Easter eggs."   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal save Download Print Share I Made This photo by DianaEatingRichly photo by DianaEatingRichly photo by DianaEatingRichly photo by Stephanie Y. photo by Stephanie Y. photo by DianaEatingRichly photo by DianaEatingRichly photo by DianaEatingRichly photo by DianaEatingRichly photo by Gina P. photo by Gina P. 1. What are the little "eyes" in the potatoes made of? There is no mention of these in the recipe or any of the reviews. Thank you.   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Connor1029 Reply 4 See 9 Replies

  4. The photo shows "eyes" on the potatoes. What are they made from? I don't see them in the recipe.   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal bjmongilbert Reply See 3 Replies
  5. How many does this make? The Nutrition analysis states that this recipe makes 1 serving; yield indicates 5 dozen. Calories for 1 serving (835 g) = 717. (835 g = 55 tablespoons). I can't imagine anyone eating all 55 tablespoons of these (1 serving) nor can I imagine making 5 dozen "potatoes" out of 4 oz cream cheese. What am I missing here?   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Shirley Fentz Reply See 2 Replies

  1. We really liked these. I made a different mix to dip them in 1/4 cup cinnamon, 1/4 cup powdered sugar just scant 1/2 cup cocoa- sifted. I was using chopped walnuts for the 'eyes' and then decided I really liked the walnuts mixed in so we went with that. They were great each way. Next time i will try dipping then in milk or dark chocolate.   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Ceezie Reply 2 See 1 Reply
  2. I was a bit skeptical at first, but these turned out so cute and tasty! I did use more cinnamon than stated, and pouring some cinnamon in a plastic bag and shaking a few "potatoes" at a time worked a lot faster and less messy than rolling. Next year when my little girl is a bit older I'll have her help me...perfect for kids to do! Thanks so much for the recipe...everyone was in love with them.   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal PrincessNoKnot Reply 2
  3. These are the potatoes I grew up eating in S. Philly. Every year I Google, to remember the exact amounts to make, and this is the one I always made. Thank you! I do use a homemade cinnamon/sugar which is 3/4 cinnamon and 1/4 sugar, to cut back on the heartburn from eating too many!   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Kell W. Reply 1
  4. Those who tasted these Philadelphia Irish Potatoes loved them...They have provided the 5 Stars. My first batch was a bit loose. I found out why. Instead of using four oz. of Philadelphia Brand Cream Cheese, I put the whole eight oz. pkg. in...oops. I was determined to have this recipe succeed, so I made another batch that met the correct ingredients. Rave reviews!!! Another thing I innovated with was the way I added cinnamon to the little balls. I put the cinnamon (More like a few Tbs. ) into my glass measuring pitcher. I rolled he balls around by motioning the pitcher in a fast, circular direction. I had fun with that maneuver and it evenly coated the potatoes. One other thing....I used almond flavoring instead of vanilla. So ono. Lynne Llewellyn, WV   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal lynne l. Reply 1

  1. They were very tasty but a little twist. I used pumpkin spice instead of cinnamon.   Theresa K. Reply 1 See 1 Reply
  2. I made these into balls and dipped them in melted chocolate instead of the cinnamon. They were delicious. Just a little tip: When you melt chocolate wafers for dipping, add about 1/2 tsp. of solid shortening (Crisco, etc.). It makes the chocolate a little thinner.   marion33 Reply
