Messages 1,102 Reaction score 66 Kratos has an infinite speed feat where he was able to light the whole entire realm of hell, that qualifies for infinite speed. Due to the realm being infinite itself and on top of that confirmed to have lit the whole realm so how in the world is that debunked (I'm not saying travel speed) LordGriffin1000

He/Him VS Battles Administrator Messages 16,330 Reaction score 13,112 Sounds like a mean outlier. Kratos doesn't have that level of speed so if he lit hell, hell isn't infinite. Also, when did this happen?. Qawsedf234

VS Battles Retired Messages 15,323 Reaction score 7,555 Anyway, the Underworld is not infinite. The only statements we have is a guidebook statement calling it "immeasurable in magnitude" and another statement from a concept artist who worked in God of War 2. The problem is, the immeasurable statement just means it doesn't have a definite size, while the statement from the concept artist refers to the feeling he'd need to accomplish for the in-gameplay level design. In the original interview you can even see he takes a while because he's trying to find a good word to describe what feeling the concept art evokes. He's also not a very reliable source for Word of God, considering he had no involvement in the script at all. He's just an artist. He also mentions that the Underworld has no gravity, which is blatantly false, considering the souls are led there and then dropped to the River Styx, freefalling until they hit the bottom. So trusting him based on his personal feelings of what he drew, and when he isn't a writer, co writer or director is just no. Lastly, there is definite evidence that the Underworld isn't infinite:
  • The official God of War making of states the Underworld doesn't have sunlight because is covered by the upper world sitting on top, which, if it was infinite, would be false.
  • It's stated that the upper world crashing onto the Underworld would result in an explosion that'd destroy both, which, if it was infinite, would not be the case.
  • Outer space can be seen from the Underworld's challenger levels

Messages 21,392 Reaction score 2,984 Aren't like multiple infinite realms in Skyrim that are covered by a bigger beyond infinite realm? That would just mean that the upper world is also infinite. Assaltwaffle

VS Battles Retired Messages 8,425 Reaction score 3,272 Pretty sure the upper world has an outright edge and definitive end. DragonEmperor23

DragonEmperor23

Messages 21,392 Reaction score 2,984 Was it ever shown to have one? Since the world in GOW is derived off multiple myths, including those where the planet is infinite (I think), it could be infinite in size as well. The Underworld being infinite would support this. Kepekley23

Kepekley23

VS Battles Retired Messages 15,323 Reaction score 7,555 @Dragon The God of War upper world undeniably has edges and is finite.
  • Concept art of the disk showing water falling off the edges.
  • Lore statement about the Island of Creation, the island that Kratos goes to to find the Sisters of Fate in God of War 2, being located at the edge of the world and "being in danger of falling off"
  • The official making of documentary for God of War 1 and 2 has the director, Stig Asmundsen, and producer Steve Caterson confirm that the world has an edge
  • The official and canon novelization of God of War mentions the Island of Creation being at the edge of the world.

VS Battles Super Moderator Administrator Human Resources Messages 21,867 Reaction score 20,090 > In the time before the Gods, before the Titans, a great battle was waged. The wrath of the Primordials, the very beings who forged the Earth, raged out of control for an eternity. Doesn't mention anything about them being before time Kepekley23

Kepekley23

VS Battles Retired Messages 15,323 Reaction score 7,555 Also, GoW WoG is contradictory. First, they say the Big Bang created the Primordials in a Fan Q&A. Then, a few months later, they say Cronos created time (which is obviously false going by Ascension). Detect the obvious contradiction. Zeckels

Zeckels

Messages 87 Reaction score 13 the big bang thing is obviously wrong going off of Ascension but could you show scans that prove time being created when Cronos was born is worng. Kepekley23

Kepekley23

VS Battles Retired Messages 15,323 Reaction score 7,555 The fact that the passage of time is referred to in the Primordials's battle, well before Cronos is born? The writer who said the Big Bang created the Primordials was the same writer who said Cronos created time. She isn't reliable when it comes to Cosmology. Zeckels

VS Battles Retired Messages 8,425 Reaction score 3,272 The "Time is meaningless" line in the context it is used implies that they can't die from age. There would be no reason to mention "short-lived" mortals if they were outright beyond time itself, but instead are just immortal. And the WoG is obviously contradictory here. Zeckels
