About Mo'Nique

Born Monique Angela Imes, American comedian and actress Mo'Nique has achieved critical and commercial success with her career in stand-up comedy and film and television. She initially gained popularity through her portrayal of Nicole Parker on “The Parkers” (1999-2004).

She has performed on prestigious platforms such as “Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam” and “Showtime at the Apollo”. She also played Mary Lee Johnston in the drama film “Precious”.  

Family Life 

She was raised as the youngest of four children of Alice and Steven Imes, Jr., in Baltimore, Maryland. She has two sons from her previous marriage to Mark Jackson. The 2005 birth of her twin sons preceded her marriage to their father, David Hicks in 2006.   

Achievements 

She has won more than 50 awards, mostly in the “Best Supporting Actress” category, including an Academy Award and a BAFTA Award, for her role in “Precious”.  

Trivia
