Born on December 11, 1967, Monique Angelica Hicks née Imes is an American actress and comedian known by her mononym, Mo’Nique.

Hailing from Woodlawn, Maryland, she is the youngest of four children.

She attended Morgan State University but graduated from the Broadcasting Institute of Maryland.

After Mo’Nique left her position as a customer service representative for a phone company, she began performing professionally along the East Coast.
