I play Terraria on Mobile, and I don't want to progress until I get the Night's Edge(yes, I am in pre-hm). Problem is, I can't get the Fiery Greatsword(the hellstone tier sword) due to lava that come out of hellstone. I can't make Lava Waders, and Obsidian Skin Potions are just a bit rare for me(can't find any). So yeah. Anyone got a method or strategy to mine hellstone without getting killed?​

Staff member Administrator To mine hellstone without any lava protection, it's best to mine one block in. Don't mine the hellstone right next to you, mine the one that is one block away so that when the lava pours out it stays trapped in by the block you didn't mine. And/or put dirt around hellstone, then mine the hellstone. The lava will stay within the dirt barrier. However, in my opinion it is MUCH easier to make an obsidian skin potion and jump into the lava. The hardest ingredient to acquire is the fireblossom, and if you are already down in the underworld, then you can grab a few. Spend 5-10 mins gathering the ingredients (fireblossom, waterleaf, obsidian) along with a bottled water and it makes things a whole lot easier.

Haven't played mobile terraria, but it can't very much different for pc, can it? Just a few points to add on Unit One's: Most of the time, hellstone will appear right next to the abandoned buildings so there a one block barrier in between you. If the hellstone falls out of reach, I would recommend draining the area of lava by digging a one block tunnel for a length of one block and then expanding it, so that the lava would be drained, and you won't be able to step on it accidentally. Also, you could use a minion to keep the monsters at bay if they trouble you much. When using obsidian skin potion, you could also use the spelunker potion for additional clarity. Mining potion would also help you.

Finally got the Night's Edge, but still need a few more for the Flamarang... and yeah. I finally found a way to protrect myself while mining Hellstone.
