One of the most anticipated moments of the NBA All-Star Weekend that takes place February 18-20 is the 2022 NBA MTN DEW 3-Point Contest, the second event of the All-Star Saturday Night based in Cleveland, Ohio.
This event, which had its first edition in 1986, has since been won by some NBA legends, as well as long distance sharpshooters who have shown how lethal their hands are.
Some anecdotes have remained after 35 editions of the 3-Point Contest, such as Larry Bird's unforgettable phrase "Which one of you is gonna come in second?" The Boston Celtics legend was not only a master of trash talk, he also backed up his threats by demonstrating how accurate he was with his long distance shots.
Who won the 3 Point Contest last year?
Although he will not be participating in the 3-Point Contest this year, future Hall of Famer Stephen Curry was the winner of the 2021 edition, when he beat Utah Jazz guard Mike Conley by one point with 28 points. This was the second time that El Chef won the 3-Point Contest.
In the entire history of the event, only seven players have managed to win it more than once: Bird (86-87-88), Craig Hodges (90-91-92), Mark Price (93-94), Jeff Hornacek (1998 and 2000), Peja Stojakovic (2002-2003), Jason Kapono (2007-2008) and Curry (2015 and 2021).
