bvw B Hi, I've been having some unusual problems with my 2005 2.0L Beetle and I could use some advice... First of all, the engine code that comes up is 01314 - Engine Control Module. I've seen the information on the Ross-Tech wiki, but I'm not sure how to go about checking the CAN-Databus or MVB. Now, the odd symptoms include the ESP light (triangle inside of a circular arrow) coming on randomly and then going away just as randomly (sometimes after days). While the light is on, the car will shift harshly while accelerating and occasionally while downshifting. I thought it was the transmission going out, but then the ESP light goes away and the car returns to shifting normally. Eventually, it was start shifting hard again and the light will come back on. I have no idea if that's related to the ECM, but how should I go about checking the ECM to see if the wires are loose or corroded? Or to see if maybe it's gone bad itself. I'm kind of a novice, so thanks for any help! #1 · Aug 15, 2018 Hi, I've been having some unusual problems with my 2005 2.0L Beetle and I could use some advice... A first step; would be a full auto scan with a scan tool, like vcds from ross tech. Pleast post all teouble codes; that you find. We jave seen damaed exu’s; which typically, are associated with misfires, that cannot be resolved. ECU’s can be shipped out for repairs; to shops that provide ecu repair services and then you can reinstall it yiurself, no orogramming needed, plug/play. There are many companies that offer these repair services; one is bba reman and they offer a lifetime warranty. That being said; your exu, may or may not need repaired. Which scan tool; are you currently using? #3 · Aug 16, 2018 I have a XTOOL VAG401 0 Reply #4 · Aug 16, 2018 What are the current trouble codes? It seems the VAG 401 auto scan feature may not work, on all cars but you can check each module your car has. Here is a good review and walk through of the features and many common procedures, you would probably want to do with a vw scan tool. http://vehicularbodges.blogspot.com/2017/01/xtool-vag401-review-tour.html?m=1 So, i would check all modules and see if there are any trouble codes and post them up here. Thanks. #5 · Aug 17, 2018

All the trouble codes I currently have are: Engine 16485 MAF sensor (G70) Implausible signal 16804 Catalyst system bank 1 efficiency below threshold 16555 Fuel trim, bank 1, system too lean (sporadic) 16840 EVAP system very small leak detected (sporadic) 16891 Idle control system RPM high than expected (sporadic) Auto trans 01314 Engine Control Module Anti-lock brakes 01314 Engine Control Module Radio 00856 Radio antenna open circuit 01044 Control module incorrectly coded I couldn't read the immobilization system. The VAG401 would freeze when trying to read it. Tons of codes; keep in mind, codes accumulate over time and these may not, all be current issues, at this time or are a intermittant issue. So, you might clear all the codes and see what comes back, after a test drive or driving, the car, for a couple of days. Because, of the amount of problems and the amount/type of codes; you might try a hard reset of th ecu. Remove the battery terminal; touch them together and install them back on the battery, reset complete. At times, the ecu settings; can get scrambled and clearing them with a hard reset, can help. #9 · Jul 23, 2021 Check your battery first. A low battery will throw all sorts of random codes. Tell us about your car, year, mileage, transmission, any work done recently and the exact codes. #10 · Jul 23, 2021 2012 Tiguan 2.0 TSI.. 76000miles.. bout 6 weeks back changed injectors( to get rid of a system too rich at idle).. work perfectly well for 5 weeks.. then basically got a miss... Basically entire vehicle would vibrate upon accelerating, white smoke and a rich smell of fuel (perfectly sounds like a coil or that area except for the codes) and if I switch off it won't start unless (and this is where I get confused) I pump the gas furiously while tumbling.. however when it starts it works perfectly.. no miss anything... Even if I turn of then it would start one turn easily.. untile maybe a day or two. Then it stutters and I have to do it over again. The codes are the next area I am confused as when I clear them different codes return. P0303 cylinder 3 misfire (came up twice... And still said cylinder 3 even when I switched around the coil packs) P2106 Throttle actuator ctrl sys- forced limited power. P2101 control actuator ctrl motor circ range/perf P2178 sys to rich off idle bank 1 01134 Alarm horn (h12) Also got a warning to check license plate bulb however the lights are on fine. That was the first time.. when I reset and did a test drive again.. no codes until stutter and when it did the codes were. 01134 alarm horn (again) P2293 Fuel press regulator 2 perf 01565 Luggage compartment light (w3) sporadic 010 open or short to plus (also on and seems to be fine) 00907 intervention load management - Static no define. 01314 Engine control module sporadic 013- check DTC memory. Thanks for the advice. 0 Reply #11 · Jul 23, 2021 Well cylinder 3 sounds like the problem. If you swapped coil packs and plugs (did you change those?) and there was no change have you thought about the #3 injector. My brother has a C class Mercedes and he had a skip issue. I changed the plugs, replaced a coil pack, swapped them around and still the same cylinder was misfiring. Changed the offending cylinders injector and it’s been good since. #14 · Jul 23, 2021 Thanks.. will give the plug a swap... And also then I guess the injector . I just would be annoyed it's an injector since I just changed those(6 weeks ago). ... But u did think of it.. kept the old ones though.. only 1 had an issue but I changed all.. so I can swap it with one of those to see. Will update if those made any difference... Will also get my battery checked/tested in case that actually has sum to do with it too. 0 Reply #12 · Jul 23, 2021 Here is the place to check your codes. There are 8 pages worth of vw codes.

www.mytiguan.com www.mytiguan.com #15 · Aug 4, 2021 Ok.. been like a week... I change the plugs (as in just bought 4 new plugs). And has been working fine since.. no codes.. However, I find in cylinder 2 before when I changed em that plug was soaked in petrol.. so I took the week and then decided to check cyl 2 before reposting. Whilst it isn't drench like the old one, it's still wetter than normal.... So imma still assume that one injector is prolly leaking.. but so far no issue. 0 Reply #16 · Aug 4, 2021 If you saved your old ones, you could always swap out that number 2 cylinder injector and see if it makes a difference. #17 · Aug 4, 2021 Yes I did save em... So that's the plan... Thanks. 0 Reply Insert Quotes Post Reply
