r3dplanetR Hi. I'm finishing with some repairs and modifications on my 2005 Golf TDI w/BEW engine and automatic (tiptronic) gearbox. I've rebuilt the turbo, installed a PD150 intake, removed the EGR system, wired in a new glow plug harness, installed new glow plugs, swapped out the oxygen sensor, thoroughly cleaned the air intake plumbing and intercooler, plumbed in new silicone vacuum lines .. all kinds of stuff. The last item on the to-do list was to flash the ECU with an EGR delete. When flashing the ECU with Flashzilla v3 it gave an error message that there was an error flashing the new tune. Afterward, I was also unable to flash the original stock tune. I'm working with customer service on that front but I haven't heard back from them. While I'm waiting for a respomse I wanted to make sure I didn't have some other, more basic wiring issue. I've checked all the fuses and they're good. Fuse #29 for the ECM gets 12 volts at switched ignition. The battery is new and fully charged with a trickle charger left connected. The engine cranks over with gusto but does not start. The glow plug light on the dash does not illuminate at any time. It did start and run (crappily) before I made the repairs. VAG Error Code: 01314 Fault Location: Engine Control Module (ECM) - No Signal/Communication/Implausible Signal Possible Cause: Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)(K83) active. CAN-Databus Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Engine Control Module (ECM) faulty. Fault(s) stored in Engine Control Module (ECM). Engine Control Module (ECM) recently flashed or re-mapped. Possible Solutions: Check CAN-Databus Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Engine Control Module (ECM). Read Measuring Value Blocks (MVB). Usually Measuring Value Blocks (MVB) 125+ show the current Communication Status. Check Databus Chapter 90-9. Skoda-Fabia 2000-Electrical.pdf Special Notes: When found in a 2005 through 2007 2.5L NAR (North American Region) (1K) Jetta check the T121/62 (Red/Black) traced power wire to the ECM. If power is missing or a voltage drop is present that wire may be damaged anywhere between 6" and 18" from the connector itself. This will result in no communication in addition to a no-start. Based on 2.5L Jetta feedback over the years a majority look like this example this example, however some are damaged further away per this example: with the close-up and distant views.
