Power: Starz tease Ghost's fate in new trailer

The final ever series of Power on Starz was always going to be a dramatic and deadly affair. However, fans around the globe would have been hoping to see Joe Proctor (played by Jerry Ferrara) last longer than he did, meeting a particularly brutal death at the hands of Tommy (Joesph Sikora) in the fifth instalment of the season’s 15-episode run. Never the less, actor Ferrara has remained positive about his character’s exit from the drama.

The decision for Proctor to die in season six was one made way before the final series made it to air.

In true Power fashion, Proctor was given one of the most high-octane death sequences of the series.

After discovering his lawyer had been lying to him about damning evidence, Tommy tracked him down to Ghost’s (Omari Hardwick) apartment.

With a little help from Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) and equipped with an automatic assault rifle, Proctor didn’t stand much of chance.

Trapped inside Ghost’s daughter’s bedroom and armed with just a pistol, Proctor made one final call to his daughter Elisa Marie (Mattea Conforti).

In heartbreaking scenes, he had to tell his daughter he wouldn’t be seeing her again and said: “I love you so much baby, okay.”

Seconds later, Tommy blasted his way into the room to come face-to-face with the corrupt lawyer.

In his last ever scene, Proctor issued one final line to Tommy: “This isn’t f****** over.”

It was to no avail, however, as Tommy retorted: “It is for you,” before emptying his rifle’s magazine into Proctor.

A lifeless Proctor was then shown peppered with bullet holes and bleeding out on the floor of Ghost’s apartment.

While the gruesome and gory end for Proctor stunned viewers, Ferrara told TVLine all about his exit.

He revealed the decision for him to leave in episode five was made by show runner Courtney Kemp, not the actor himself.

He said: “I found out maybe about a few weeks before we shot it.

“I did have some warning from Courtney Kemp, the showrunner. She and I now know each other for a long time, so she did allude to the fact that this last season is going to be a violent one.

“She called me into her office, and I didn’t realise it was happening until it was happening.

“Then she gave me the look, and I’m like, ‘Oh God, I’m done.’”

Kemp’s decision to write Ferrara’s character isn’t the only one to have sent shockwaves through the Power fanbase during its final runs.

Ahead of its midseason break on Starz and Netflix, fans had already said their goodbyes to LaKeisha (La La Anthony), Angela (Lela Loren), Poncho (Franky G) and Grimace (Avery Mason).

Could the show’s leading man ghost soon find himself on that long list too?
