Serena and Venus Williams were also knocked out in the first round of the Women's Doubles tournament, squashing their hopes of enjoying another Grand Slam win.

What time is Serena Williams playing at the US Open?

Unfortunately, Serena Williams has exited the US Open after her recent defeats in both the Women's Doubles and Women's Singles tournaments.

While Williams, who is rumoured to be on her farewell tennis tour, performed well throughout the competition in the first two rounds of the singles, she was taken down by Australian star Ajla Tomljanovic after a tense three rounds in the early hours of the morning.

On Friday both Williams sisters were beaten by Czechia's Linda Nosková and Lucie Hradecká in the first round of the doubles competition.
