Pcockerill P Hi all I have a 2011 Passat SE 1.6 TDI manual that had a failed clutch master cylinder, the garage replaced the cylinder, but since then the gear indicator on the dash does not show the current gear that the car is in, also the stop/ start function, auto hold and cruise control do not work. according the garage the car isn't showing up any error codes. the garage claims the clutch master cylinder will not effect any of these functions. thanks Pat #1 · May 4, 2019 Hi all I have a 2011 Passat SE 1.6 TDI manual that had a failed clutch master cylinder, the garage replaced the cylinder, but since then the gear indicator on the dash does not show the current gear that the car is in, also the stop/ start function, auto hold and cruise control do not work. according the garage the car isn't showing up any error codes. the garage claims the clutch master cylinder will not effect any of these functions. thanks Pat Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · May 4, 2019 First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!! The digital gear indicator in the MFD isn't controlled by the clutch its controlled by the electronics. What did this garage use to scan for error codes, a generic code reader? You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out. Post moved to the correct section. ;) #3 · May 4, 2019 sorry about that im new to all this, its my first time posting. the garage said they were getting a diagnostics guy in to read any faults and that is all i know really. when the new clutch master cylinder was fitted the car would not start, it said on the dash depress clutch, the garage said that the new master cylinder had a sensor on it that the car did not recognize, they said they had taken the old sensor off the broken cylinder and plastic welded to the new one, the car now starts and drives but stop start, gear indicator on MFD does not show, and cruse control doesn't work (all worked perfect before master cylinder went pop) could the sensor on the cylinder a factor for any of this? my next job is to find a VW specialist to see if any faults codes can be found thanks and sorry again about the lack of introduction #4 · May 5, 2019 As I've said: You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out. #5 · May 6, 2019 They have fitted the 12-10-2014 onwards revised master cylinder, as you have to, but their supplier has not supplied them with/notified them about, the revised hall sender 3C0 927 810 D but now that have bodged it they will probably have to start all over again. This often happens when garages try and do all makes, the market is so complex now you can make huge mistakes, even dealing with one make, the parts problems are sole destroying-especially when you use Euro Car Parts...... #6 · May 6, 2019 thanks for the help guys. i will be taking the car to a vw specialist to see if they can sort out the bodge. looks like i will be spending a few more £££ cheers Pat #7 · Jun 11, 2019 hello guys just an update took the car to a vw specialist, they put on a new clutch master cylinder and sensor all working as it should, the old one couldn't be saved it was bodged and leaking. thanks for the help Insert Quotes Post Reply
