I've installed the devices and initially Bluetooth pairs when the ignition is switched on and the RNS510 seems to work ok but always starts in Germany (Regensburg syndrome). Bluetooth connectivity does work but does not interface to the RNS 510 and so to answer or make a call you have to use the phone rather than the touch screen. I assumed this was due to the car being unaware of the Bluetooth and RNS510 and so added them using the coding assistant. However once the coding is complete the Bluetooth no longer pairs and the RNS 510 is unable to find any satellites. If I remove the coding and set it back as it was the systems all work fine but with the original limitations. Can anyone offer any thoughts as to why this might be please? As soon as I tag 37 as present in the CAN gateway the RNS510 stops finding any satellites at all and remains stuck in Germany. Does this suggest Gateway software version mismatches? I can try the coding to front speakers only, the car does have rear speakers though. Aug 15, 2017 #4 D

You need to use phone to make calls or answer them. 9W7 is what you need if you want to have full control through the radio screen. Aug 15, 2017 #5 R

The car does not have multi function steering wheel or highline display unfortunately and so has no buttons to activate pairing. I don't think its possible to do it from the RNS510 itself? According to your autoscan, if the module 1K8 035 730 D is correct, that's a 9W2. UHV Novero standard. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Telephone_Retrofitting If you want control you'll need 9W7 unit and still like m87a already wrote, it will be limited without highline cluster. Pairing cannot be done from the headunit, for that you'll need the cluster. Aug 17, 2017 #8 R

Do you know of any Bluetooth modules which will allow pairing without highline? Also do you have any idea why the CAN stuff stops responding when I tell the gateway about module 37 please? Aug 17, 2017 #9 D

You mean highline cluster? No, if no cluster then the pairing is done from mobile side but you still cannot change any of the BT settings without the cluster.

Not familiar with PQ25 platform that much but here's some discussion about the can gateway revision you have : http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5322130 There's a hint also how to get it to register the new devices. Just recode the can gateway with the same exact coding you have there now, it will then auto refresh the installation list. It should find the Navigation and register it at that point.
