Verified Joined Dec 24, 2017 Messages 15 Reaction score 4 Location UK VCDS Serial number C?ID=266600 Dear Ross-Tech community, Earlier this week I retrofitted our VW Polo 6R (1.4 petrol Match) with the following equipment: 1) RNS510 part number 1T0 035 686 F 2) Telephone Bluetooth Module part number 3C8 035 730 E This equipment was previously fitted to a 2016 MY VW Tiguan and came with the OEM harness, GPS, GSM, DAB antenna and microphone. The installation was relatively easy and both modules were added to the CAN Gateway and coded using the long code helper. Only reported issue with VCDS was a problem with AUX In, which is showing a fault code 03138. I have attached a full scan for your reference. The RNS510 radio and navigation is working perfectly, as is the media player part number 5N0 035 342 E. However I have encountered the following problems: a) AUX IN - the previously functional Aux-in fitted within the Center console does not function. I have read on the forum that I should swap pin 1 and pin 7 over on the original quad lock to cure this fault, but am reluctant to make any changes unless I understand why. b) Bluetooth- try as I might I can’t find a Bluetooth signal emanating from the Bluetooth module. I have tried multiple coding combinations and resetting both this and the RNS unit , but no joy. I’ve searched the Adaptions drop-down options, but the only reference to Bluetooth is to set the PIN. I have tried this also, but it makes no difference. Again I have read on the forum that you can access the channels within the Bluetooth module to switch Bluetooth on and off, but this functionality is hidden from me, so without security access to the module I can’t check functionality. I’m sure this is not a new problem and I don’t believe there is an issue with the equipment. I suspect the solution lies in coding and/or adaption, however any guidance you or the community can provide would be much appreciated. This is a standard car in Polo Match trim, so has a conventional MFD cluster and is not fitted with a MFSW. I look forward to your response. I can either use a drop down menu or search channel numbers manually. The only channel on drop down is for setting the bluetooth PIN. If I try to search manually I can only access the same channels that feature on the drop down, so not much help. I guess if I had the security code I might be able to access the channel you refer to, but unfortunately I don't. Thanks for your assistance. Apr 19, 2021 #6

You might want to run an Adaptation function Control Module Map, open the resulting file with Notepad and post the results here so we can make sure everything communicates as expected. Maps are explained here: Ross-Tech: VCDS Tour - Controller Channels Map You won't be able to run a Measuring Block function map with a legacy interface but there are only 28 (or so) Advanced Measuring Values in 77 so you could connect to it, tick the first 12 boxes, Add to Log, clear those boxes and then repeat to obtain data related to the current condition in the form of a text log file. I don't see any obvious coding issues but the AUX-In discrepancy would be best sorted by comparing the factory wiring diagram with one from the donor Tiguan. Apr 19, 2021 #7 M

This module is not suitable for polo 6r if you have no MFA+. Because with this module it displays a code in the MFA+ which needs to be inserted in the phone for pairing. Since you don’t have this you can not see this! you need a module that begins with 7p6 or 5k0. This will work perfectly Apr 20, 2021 #9 M

If this is the problem, then I should have done more investigation beforehand and bought a different module. Hopefully there is a workaround, but if not I will look the alternative module. Dana requested that I post a channel map of module 77, so hopefully this will provide greater insight. Any additional comments are welcome. I have same for module 56 and 37 just in case these are needed.

Looks like my choices are: 1 - modify the car to include MFSW or MFA+, or 2 - purchase alternative BT module 7P6/5K0 Assuming the latter is plug & play this would be my preference. Hopefully I can use the same harness and just exchange the unit. Ross-Tech guidelines indicate that 7P6-035-730-L or 5K0-035-730-F are the later standards of compatible units. How can I be certain to avoid similar integration issues, given the low spec of my car? Thanks again for your assistance. Apr 21, 2021 #12

It's not an or, but you need to do both. Just the MFSW is not enough. And the MFA+ without 2-sided MFSW is not very practical either. Apr 21, 2021 #13

Just need to avoid trashing the telephone system from someone else’s vehicle. option 2 is looking more attractive by the minute. Hopefully I can sell the module I have and secure a replacement for similar money. Staff member Administrator Ross-Tech Employee Joined Jan 29, 2014 Messages 6,660 Reaction score 10,213 Location Western PA, USA Thanks iichel. @Mick.Conway Assuming you know someone with a donor/loaner car that fits the specifications you won't trash their system. Unplugging their 77 module, so you can plug yours in, might set a few DTCs here and there for communication, microphone type, and similar but you can clear all of those after reinstalling their factory 77 module. You won't wipe the profiles from the donor car as long as the donor car's original module is unplugged when tinkering in the MFA. My only advice would be to firstly run a complete Auto-Scan before any swapping. In the unlikely event that the donor car has a preexisting problem you won't spend time stressing over reoccurring fault codes that are unrelated to the swapping. I will pursue the alternative module, so if @vastechnics can offer his advice on module part numbers to avoid a recurrence of this problem it would be helpful. It looks like the 7P6 and 5K0 modules are circa 2011-12 vintage, while my current module is 2014. If going back the way sorts the integration problem it is perhaps a better solution for this car in the medium term. Excellent help from all of you, so thanks very much. Apr 21, 2021 #18
