Calories
Bang has 0 calories per 16 fl.oz whereas Reign contains 10 calories in every 16 fl.oz can.
Considering that the recommended daily calorie intake is 2,000 to 2,400 calories for women and 2,400 to 3,000 calories for men, both Bang and Reign won’t pose a threat to your diet if trying to cut back on calories.
Bang is definitely the better option if you want to do away with calories completely, but in truth, the difference of 10 calories in Reign does not make much difference. Reign’s calorie content is lower than the calories in a cup of espresso.
Since both Bang and Reign don’t contain any sugar, you’ll get your energy boost from the caffeine within these drinks. This is healthier of course because you won’t experience the usual sugar rush that’s associated with sugary energy drinks.
For a more thorough analysis of what Bang offers you in terms of nutrition, you can refer to the article I’ve written on Bang Energy Drink Nutrition Facts, which you’ll find interesting.

Bang VS Reign Ingredient Comparisons
Caffeine
Every 16 fl.oz can of Bang Energy contains 300mg of caffeine anhydrous while Reign has 300mg of natural caffeine.
Caffeine is a pretty core ingredient for any energy drink. Aside from reducing symptoms of fatigue, caffeine could also improve your physical and mental performance.
To give an example, a 2016 study reported that low to moderate doses of caffeine could enhance cognitive functions like alertness, vigilance, attention, and reaction time.
Since Bang and Reign contain the same amount of caffeine in every can, let’s take a look at the type of caffeine each energy drink has.
The caffeine within Bang Energy is caffeine anhydrous, which is basically concentrated, more potent caffeine powder, although the side effects it causes is similar to that of the caffeine you usually consume.
If you want to find out more on the caffeine topic in Bang, I suggest you to read the article I’ve written on How Much Caffeine is in Bang Energy Drink.
On the other hand, Reign’s caffeine content is natural caffeine, which are sourced from green coffee beans and tea leaves.
In retrospect, the caffeine present in Reign is healthier compared to Bang’s since it comes from plant sources. But the adverse effects from drinking Reign Energy would be the same as having a can of Bang Energy drink.
Both these energy drinks have very high caffeine content, which gives them an edge in providing a stronger and longer-lasting energy boost compared to other brands with a smaller caffeine content.
As a reference, the FDA recommends a daily caffeine limit of 400mg for healthy adults. An excessive consumption of caffeine could lead you to develop these side effects:
- Anxiety
- Insomnia
- Digestive issues
- Muscle breakdown
- Addiction
- High blood pressure
- Rapid heart rate
- Fatigue
- Frequent urination and urgency
Since the caffeine content of Bang and Reign are very high, you should stick to a limit of one can of either energy drink in a day.
It is also not advisable to have other caffeinated beverages alongside Bang or Reign, as you might consume more caffeine than you can handle and potentially reach or exceed the daily caffeine limit.
In short, regardless of whether you pick Bang or Reign Energy Drink, you’ll get the same boost and benefits as long as you consume either one in moderation.
Sugar
Bang and Reign are completely sugar-free but do contain artificial sweeteners as a sugar-substitute instead.
A can of Bang contains Sucralose, while each can of Reign has both Sucralose and Acesulfame Potassium. These artificial sweeteners are FDA-approved non-nutritive sweeteners that are safe for use in many foods and drinks.
Artificial sweeteners are sweeter than sugar and generally adds a sweet taste without all the extra calories and carbohydrates. These sweeteners also won’t cause cavities in the long-run and might be able to help you lose weight.
However, frequent intake of artificial sweeteners isn’t recommended either, as some studies have found links between these sweeteners to health problems like obesity, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular diseases.
If you want to know more about artificial sweeteners, check out this video:
Amino Acids
Every 16 fl.oz can of Bang Energy has Essential Amino Acids (EAAs) while Reign contains Branched-Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) per 16 fl.oz
Essential Amino Acids (EAAs) are important amino acids that can’t be made by our bodies and needs to be obtained from our diet. EAAs consist of nine amino acids, namely Histidine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Tryptophan and Valine.
These amino acids are essential for many of our body functions. Apart from getting EAAs through natural sources like meat, eggs and dairy products, EAAs are also available in supplement form.
Supplementing with proper doses of EAAs might result in the following health benefits:
- Improvement in mood and sleep
- Improvement in exercise performance
- Muscle loss prevention
- Weight loss
If you’re an athlete, bodybuilder or regularly work out, supplementing with essential amino acids could lead to better performance.
Meanwhile, branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) are group of three essential amino acids, which are Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine. BCAA supplements are popular for their benefits in promoting muscle growth and enhancing physical performance.
In short, Bang and Reign contain amino acids that would help improve your exercise performance and would make great pre-workout beverages to complement your exercise sessions.
Coenzyme Q10
Both Bang and Reign contain Coenzyme Q10, which naturally occurs in your body and acts an antioxidant.
The main reason Coenzyme Q10 is included as one of the ingredients in both of these drinks is because it has ergogenic benefits on physical performance.
However, in order for those benefits to manifest, you must take a dosage between 90mg to 200mg of CoQ10 in supplement form per day.
In Bang’s and Reign’s cases, it’s quite hard to determine if you’ll experience any benefits at all considering the exact amounts of CoQ10 isn’t mentioned.
In my opinion, you shouldn’t depend on Bang and Reign for your daily dose of CoQ10. Go for supplements if you’re really serious about it.

Bang VS Reign Price
On Amazon, a 12-pack of 16 fl.oz cans of Bang costs $32 while a 12-pack of 16 fl.oz cans of Reign costs $19.
Hence, the price for one 16 fl.oz can of Bang is around $3 whereas a single 16 fl.oz can of Reign costs around $1.60.
I’m quite surprised seeing that both energy drinks are of the same liquid volume and caffeine content but Reign is much cheaper than Bang.
Granted Reign doesn’t have as many ingredients as Bang, but if you don’t want to shell out extra money for an energy drink, Reign is the way to go.
Of course, we can’t overlook that Bang has more extensive options of flavors than Reign.
Is Reign healthier than other energy drinks?
There is no definitive answer to this question because it varies depending on the person’s interpretation of “healthy.” Some people may believe that Reign is healthier than other energy drinks because it consists of no sugar or calories.
However, others would argue that Reign’s high levels of caffeine and other stimulants make it unhealthy. It is ultimately up to the individual to determine whether or not they consider Reign to be a healthy beverage option.
Final Thoughts (Is Bang or Reign Better?)
Ultimately, the decision of whether Bang or Reign is better depends on your tastes, needs, and preferences.
Both energy drinks have their own uniqueness that caters to relatively similar target audiences, so it can be a challenge to determine which of these energy drinks are better than the other.
As a comparison:
Bang has more ingredients and has been around longer compared to Reign so it’s already established itself in the market, as well as having plenty of flavors. However, it’s more expensive than Reign.
Reign might not be as popular as Bang, but it has the same amount of caffeine as Bang and contains plenty of amino acids and vitamins of its own for a lower price.
As such, whether you want to go for the recognizable, established brand or the cheaper underdog is really up to you, as both energy drinks will certainly serve you well.
In my opinion, Bang is perfect if you love its wide assortment of flavors while Reign would help you save on a lot of money for its ergogenic benefits.
So try out both of them, and see which of the energy drinks you prefer.
