Joined Aug 1, 2011 Messages 51 Reaction score 0 I am looking to replace the stock Celestion 70/80 speaker in my Marshall DSL40C. I am set on the Creambacks as I've heard amazing reviews about them. There are limited clips online on the G12M-65 and only one clip I found on the G12-H75 (below). I'm looking for a warm speaker to tame the harshness of this amp and boost up some low end. Has anyone tried the G12H-75's? or the 65's? Any suggestions for other speakers are welcome. ThanksDaveK

If you want warmer highs and more lows, the M fits the bill. The H adds additional highs and less mid punch than the M, as well as tighter lows. Both really great speakers, super impressed with them out of the box.gulliver

I like the H a lot better, and seem to gravitate towards the H side of things every time lately. I have scumback H75 LHDCs, guessing the Scumbacks are a little more in-your-face with more upper mids ... but seem to be in a similar ball park. Ffreaksho

I'll have to have an amp that will tame the treble in the DSL40c. Has anyone tried the Celestion Alnico Golds?gulliver

Click to expand...I have a Alnico Blue Dog and had an Alnico Silver Bell. For me, those tones are nice for gritty OD tones. When you go heavy Marshall on them with higher gain, they sound overly compressed and congested to me, but many use them for these applications. The Scumback H75 LHDCs are nice in that the large dust cap rounds off the highs. I feel I have more control over the highs as well, when adjusting treble. I've had Celestion G12H30s before, too peaky in the extended highs for me.

I jsut wished there were more sound clips of the scumbacks ans Celestion G12H-75's.

Buy, try and sell what you don't like. you really need to live with and dial in a speaker before you can judge, clips are for keeping you on the right path. L

The lows are tighter and the highs are not fizzy at all. I also gig this amp for smaller venues and it really does deliver. Always have someone come up and say how good that little Marshall sounds.
