They're good speakers,IMO.They have good low end characteristics, and will handle a lot of power without crapping out, esp. is used in pairs or quads.I ran one of these in series with a G12K-85 for awhile in a vertical 2X12 cab I used to have, and that combination sounded fine to me.BTW,you're right-Celestion stopped production of these(and a lot of other good speakers),when they moved most of their production to China about 5 years ago. Messages 2,032 I have a single G12K-100 in my Trutone Custom "widebody" semi-open cab,and it sounds simply huge for being only a 1-12.I find the bass to be tight and quite full with the upper end a bit on the brighter side, though not at all harsh or spikey. To my ears, the upper mids seem slightly scooped...especially when compared with a Vintage 30.It's my "go to" cab for when I want to liven up a dark sounding head or for when playing higher gain stuff. Messages 511 is a G12K-100 the same as a G12H-100? E

Messages 2,032 I believe that the G12K-100 has taken the place of the G12H-100 in the current Celestion catalog. In fact,Celestion is touting the G12K-100 as the new "go to" speaker for heavier, high gain styles on their website.Actually,I also find it superb for getting huge clean tones,as well as for slightly dirty to crunch tones. Messages 654 I use a G12H-100 in my modded Deluxe Reverb II, mainly because I take this amp and my modded Concert to gigs so the combo speaker needs to withstand the 50W of the Concert. I had quite a few speakers in this amp so I will give you the comparison: Celestion G 12 H-100: solid, good low end, fat, just enough treble, good allround speaker Jensen 12 Neo: solid, good low end, not as fat as the Celestion, a bit brighter, also good allround speaker Weber Ceramic Blue Dog: very similar to the Jensen, a bit more mids, still good allround speaker Celestion Greenback: the brightest of all speakers when overdriven, clean tone is quite midrangey, more specialized speaker ElectroVoice EVM-12L: solid, too big for this small amp, smooth overdrive (this speaker is long sold now so my memory is not too clear on this one) As long as I keep this gig combination the G 12 h-100 stays in that amp. Should I decide to no longer gig with the DR II I will put the Weber back in. Mig60

Gold Supporting Member Messages 1,125 I have two G12H-100's. Both are in 1X12 open back cabs and they sound great with both clean and overdriven tones. The bottom end stays together even in open back cabs, never harsh either. They sound very even to me, no mid spikes or scoops. I run a 75 watt Demeter TGA-3 (2-6L6's fixed bias) and a loud 30 watt Budda Stringmaster (4 EL-84 cathode biased) through these Celestions and I love them at all volumes. FWIW, Rick Mig60

Silver Supporting Member Messages 3,667 I just picked up an older Mesa Thiele speaker cab and I'm trying to ID the speaker and figure the impedance. The speaker has a G12H-100 sticker over a "K-100" sticker and I can't read the impedance from the stamping. Can you help? IMG_4933.jpg IMG_4936.jpg E

Messages 2,032 Mesa tends to run all their cabs at 8 ohm.Well,at least the 1-12 cabs.It does look to say 8 ohm, with the top of the 8 and the ohm symbol being chopped off.The G12H-100 sticker over the G12K-100 seems quite odd,as the K-100 is newer than the discontinued H-100. Ed M

Messages 941 While this purports to be an 8 ohm Model T3594 G12H-100 manufactured in September, 1994, never trust the label or even the stamping on the frame since some speakers get reconed over the years by prior users. Just get out your digital multimeter, disconnect the speaker leads off the speaker tabs, and read the ohms across the + and -- tabs. If the cab is a 1x12 and the tabs of the speaker are soldered to the speaker wire leads, then just plug a high-quality speaker wire into the back of your cab, and take the ohm reading off the tip and sleeve of the speaker cable you've plugged in. If it is an 8 ohm speaker, as it would seem, the multimeter will read between 6 and about 7.5 ohms. If it is a 4 ohm speaker it will read between 2.8 and about 3.8 ohms. If it is a 16 ohm speaker, it will read between 12 and about 15 ohms. Also, what is the little white or gray number printed somewhere on the back of the speaker cone? Probably 1777 ??? Looks like a late-production 1994 G12H-100 to me, and the overlabeling is not uncommon, since they often loaded that same speaker (the G12H-100) into keyboard amps in the 80s and 90s, because it is a full range driver and is not guitar-specific. That's what the K12 designation you see underneath is probably about. This speaker is long discontinued, and is a very good, rugged speaker. It is not quite the same as a current G12K-100. The basket on the new G12K-100 is slightly different, the magnet is moved closer toward the back of the cone, and this unit you have here could also use a different cone, although I doubt this particular unit will have the 1105 cone. I like the warmer tone and different mids of these older G12H-100s better than the new G12K-100. I have a nice collection of G12H-100s from the early 80s thru the 90's and like them very much for certain things. A nice fat sounding speaker with solid, smooth, punchy mids that are not peaky or overbearing, this is quite a neutral speaker with great power handling. I run these in quads in a 4x12, and it brings the thunder, with a nice fat tone, handing everything from detailed cleans to very high gain and everything in between, with no hickups. I also run one of these in a Bogner 1x12 cube, and to me, it is everything the chesty, spikey V30 wishes it could be in a 1x12, with better punch, better articulation, clearer lows, cleaner highs, and smoother fatter mids that aren't ugly in any way. Because of its neutral character, many different brands and styles of amps see it well. Cheers! Last edited: Jan 12, 2011 B

Messages 2,651 IMO the G12K 100 is fantastic. I put one in my JCM800 combo, and then bought three more. Good bass and no pooping out when you turn up. S

Messages 1,163 H100's are versatile - great when clean and dirty. These were the stock speakers in Yamaha/Soldano T100 combos. I'm been an EV guy since '79 - so this is my 2nd FAVE Celestion - the first being the massive cast EV-like one that came in Ampeg VL503. thegame

Messages 584 Anyone have info on the G12 100 ? Not an "H" or "K" designation, just plain G12 100. I've seen pics of them, info on them is practically non-existent. I'd guess they're from the early 80s since they have the air vents ala G12 65s and G12 80s. G
