From Proto-Vietic*tət. Cognate with Tho [Cuối Chăm] tʌt⁷.
Attested as đất in the Dictionarium Annamiticum Lusitanum et Latinum (1651).
The set comprised of Bahnarteh, Pacohcuteq, Khmupteʔ, Mangteː⁶, Monတိ(tɔeˀ), Khmerដី(dəy), etc. are most likely lookalikes, since Vietic has a *-t that cannot be reconciled with the rest.
