I had the shop read the codes today and 93C3 popped (seat occupancy detector). Anybody know what this is and if the fix is a DIY?, shop didnt tell me a lot other than check with BMW if this was a recall as the sensor might be faulty.....

I am afraid to step in there and get a HIGH invoice for some monster safety repair..... any other ideas out there?, or suggestions of where I can get some advice?

I cleared it and it came back as soon as I had a front passenger again. I have a service appointment scheduled for tomorrow (I have CPO warranty) and I'll post back here with the amount they bill to warranty if I can remember to catch a glimpse of the warranty invoice.

If I remember correctly they billed ~$390 parts and ~$200 labor for the seat repair. Here are the comments on my invoice: Code: CUSTOMER REPORTS AIR BAG LIGHT ERROR ONLY WHEN PASSENGER IS IN SEAT CAUSE: Defective right front seat mat sensor. PERFORMED SEAT SENSOR REPLACEMENT 25 52-10-1-945-543 CLAMP 1 52-10-7-244-128 SPORTS SEAT UPHOLSTERY Defective right front seat mat sensor. Checked fault memory and perform test plan for the seat mat detector. Found the right front seat mat detector was not reading properly and was prompted to replace the right front seat mat sensor. DIAGCODE D6577 MRS0000 57 010. Replaced the right front seat mat sensor and enabled via programming. DIAGCODE: D6577 MRS00000 90 211. Reprogrammed/encoded the complete vehicle + CAS. Test drove vehicle, all checks ok.

Since they recoded the entire vehicle I lost all my coded options, including my MoBridge iPod adapter (CDC). I spent about 2 hours in the car tonight re-learning NCS.

More than I wanted but less than what it could have been, i guess.....

They are sometimes an intermittent thing and it will likely come back. Have the dealer address it if you're under warranty or else it's expensive out of warranty. My previous MINI had the issue and it was 1100 to fix (Canadian price though). The seat mats are defective in MINI Coopers, 3 series and 5 series also. __________________ '09 LCI 335i E90 in BSM over Oyster Dakota Leather, Manual, Sport, Navigation, Individual Audiophile, Executive, Active Steering, JB4 + MHD BEF, 335is Exhaust w/AWE Tuning Tips, AFE DCI, Euro Tails/Fog Light Switch, various painted and other OEM + mods, 19" M5 reps summer '13 MINI Cooper S Paceman JCW R61in Light White & Black Roof/Mirror Caps/Sport Stripes, Loaded + Rare

Finally had it looked at and as described above, Mat sensor replacement.

Haven't had a front seat passenger in nearly two years now, since we had a child that requires an infant seat. Just a bigger kid in back seat. Front passenger seat just gets tilted for entry/exit. Literally drove for an errand and it was fine going to the location, when starting up to go home this popped up. Out of nowhere. Very frustrating. Last edited by JHZR2; 07-06-2018 at 10:05 AM..
