Korean Good Morning~! I need your help. It would be great if you give me a clear answer for the following question. Situation: At school, looking at the class timetable. I have a music class. / I have music class. I asked the native speaker of English which setence is correct. He answered both are correct. However the sentence without the article more frequently used in verbal converstion. He added if there are several different classes of math, for example, you should put the article 'a' "I have a math class." When do you put 'a' in front of the class name? Do you usually say without 'a' in real conversation? Please look at this example too. A: What do you do after school? B: I have a piano class. (in this case, do you put 'a' or without 'a') Thanks for your help in advance. Andygc

Devon British English In BE the article is needed. As you wrote 'math class' I assume your native speaker spoke AE. In BE the normal sentences would be "I have music." "I have maths." "I have a music lesson after school." You must log in or register to reply here. Share: Bluesky LinkedIn WhatsApp Email Share Link
