What is bushmeat?

Bushmeat includes a large variety of wild species that are eaten as food. Vertebrates contribute to almost all the bushmeat consumed in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. By class, mammals are the most common, followed by birds, amphibians and reptiles. Read more

Bushmeat is defined by the Convention on Biological Diversity (2011) as: The meat of wild animals harvested in tropical and sub-tropical countries, for food and for non-food purposes, including medicinal use.
