Hi peeps I have a oil light on the dash when I start the engine then it goes out after a short period. Is this the oil level sensor gone?. I check the oil every week so it is full!. If so can any one tell me where abouts it is located?. Bottom of the sump? #4 · Nov 8, 2012 Hi, I had a similar problem with mine where the oil light flashed three times when ignition turned on VW quoted about £120 to change above sensor, I bought one of ebay and was going to do it my self when it stopped flashing and hasn't started again. It stopped a short while after an overdue service so I think it may have been a bit gunked up inside and then cleared it self.

#5 · Nov 8, 2012 Cheers guys. I may have found the problem. It looks like the garage did not re-fit the wire correctly and it has been leaning on the turbo down pipe and has melted through!. VW quoted me about £86 for the part. So will try and chop the melted wire out and put a new peice in. If this does not work then it may have blown the sensor #6 · Nov 8, 2012 If you're going to change that sensor I'd change the engine oil at the same time ! Insert Quotes Post Reply
