Odds are good the tranny's are interchangeable, idk if they're the same. Here are specs for the 6 speed used in the m3. Notice the familiar naming scheme. The G means its a mazda G series tranny, which has been around since the days of the 323, it also means affordable parts. With the protege/mazda 3 4 spd auto and the focus 4 spd auto the only difference was that the ford tranny was pressed together while the mazda one was bolted together. All the internals were identical. As a side note focus parts are way cheaper and easier to come by then ford parts so it might be a very good thing. #12 · Jan 13, 2009 Re: (zerocover) so it looks like the only way to get an LSD is to buy and install. I'm willing but I need a complete bunch of exploded diagrams on this trans ie the complete rebuild manual... when I screw up! I'm just tossing an idea out here, mabye enough of us can form a hui (group of people) and buy a trans, so I can install the first LSD into, then I'll have my old trans for a LSD that can be put in the next car... down the line and when we are all done the final trans can be held in joint or sold and the money sent back to the group.. dunno. I don't want to foot the entire bill and work by myself... I'm up to help with any install as long as you guys help me. A kin to a mini mafia on a specific issue. I'm about to hand in a mazda 3 lease next month, but I'm gonna miss the shifter and clutch. The s40 is a much better car, but the 3 has a sportier clutch & shifter and a lot less "notchiness" when you first start driving. #19 · Jan 19, 2009 Re: (ProBoner) Amsoil fixes that. I came across quaife and plate lsds available for our cars, and I don't know much about the pros and cons of the two. The plate type costs about $125 more than the $945 quaife.
