Mozza M Hello - new to this forum! Just bought my first VW - 59 Polo Se 70 - new shape. It's a second car, so didn't need anything fancy, but I liked the styling over the others, which look like trainers, and will probably look old fashioned soon! Anyway, it's been great - it's not quick, but it's absolutely fine - I don't know why people say they aren't. I even drove a 60bhp for a bit, and thta was great too. Anyway - I've noticed aweird thing. When you reverse, you get a fairly loud fan sound from the passenger side. I turned off the radio, and it doesn't change, but turned off the heater, and it stopped. I know there is a vent into the glove box, and i've turned that off too, andit still does it. Only happens in reverse, and is fairly loud - and definately comes from the passenger footwell or glove box - and goes off when the heater is turned off... Anyone had this happen? #1 · Nov 10, 2011 Hello - new to this forum! Just bought my first VW - 59 Polo Se 70 - new shape. Not sure it's this though - when I put it on re-circ it doesn't do it, and can only think that what you're suggesting is the same. Also, it wouldn't really need to shut anything down, as it takes its air in from the front, so it would pick up very little exhaust. Think I'll have a drive of another to see if it does it. #4 · Nov 11, 2011 It doesn't do it on recirculating because it does not need to as the function is to put it into recirc! #5 · Nov 13, 2011 But it doesn't suck in air from the back, which is where the exhaust comes out, and potentially into the car. So why would it shut anything down? #6 · Nov 21, 2011 For the sake of completing this post, and to apologies to Crasher - he was right! Checked it out with the techs at VW, and they gave me the exact same reason - even showed me the fan. So it recirculates the air when reversing, so it doesn't come back into the cab. It's very loud though, especially if you've got the fan on very high! #7 · Nov 21, 2011 I wish the smelly Passat TDI I reversed tonight had been equipped with that feature... #8 · Nov 21, 2011 :D Oh they gave me a Blue Motion 1.2 Diesel Polo while they did a few other things (the previous owner have pulled the wipers up too fast and chiped the paint, ect) I thought it was rough and horrible, frankly. And I see they're £15,000ish? Blimey. I compare it to my Renault ( which is a great car, but I hate Renault) and the VW sounded like it was 15 years older, when infact it was 15 months younger. Didn't expect that! Glad I settled on the petrol, which is lovely. #9 · Nov 22, 2011 I prefer petrol as well, not a fan of diesel at all. Insert Quotes Post Reply
