#1 · Sep 11, 2005 Hi, im new in this forum (i registered a while ago, but this is my first post) so let me introduce myself. My name is Javier and i'm from Lima, Peru. I'm actually driving a 95 Hyundai Sonata in excellent condition. I find this platform an excelent one for a sleeper proyect, so the first step I'm taking for "pimping the ride" = ) is to turbocharge it. Since here in Peru things like junkyards aren't as common as in the US (people never throw away a car... you can see 20 year old cars in the streets) getting a 4G63T would be really hard. I'm better off (and i guess it's cheaper) to work on my current engine, a stock G4JP. I'm starting small, with a T03 (internally wastegated), a small intercooler and perhaps a BOV for the woooooosh. I can get those parts from a turbo kit for an eclipse. I know that most turbo parts are quite standard so the only problem would be getting the turbo headers to fit. Would the turbo headers of a 4G63 fit in my engine without a problem?? What do you think of my project, do you think it would work? any comments from you guys would be really apreciated. Thank you very much Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Sep 11, 2005 there is several guys that have turbocharged their hyundai's. for parts I used ebay japan and ebay USA. for the manifold ssautochrome from ebay. #3 · Sep 11, 2005 I'm checking out ssautochrome, nice tip. However, I'm still not sure on what manifold / headers to use, since there are no parts specifically designed for the 95 Sonata. Would manifolds designed for the 4G63 fit right in? Also, this question may sound dumb.... because I know most parts by their name in spanish, i am sometimes not sure on the meaning of the terms in english... what is the difference between a manifold and a header? Thanks #4 · Sep 12, 2005 I have a 92 Sonata with a swapped 4g63t in it my self. You can get a custom made manifold/turbo header. Header and manifold is the same thing pretty much . Manifolds are usualy cast metal and headers are usualy tubular style , usually performance aplications. For turbo cars you can get a reg log style manifold or a tubular turbo header . We make all this kind of stuff at the shop i work at www.metalexmotorworx.com the blue SOnata on the web site is my car. Hope this helps a bit. #5 · Sep 12, 2005 Hi, thanks for the info guys, so far this has been very enlightening. What I'm understanding so far is that I'd have to make a custom manifold / headers done, a piece for 4G63 wouldn't fit, right? Also, how does the T03 perform? is it a good turbo for my application (2.0 L) or should I go with a bigger one?
