I climbed into the boot and jiggled the black clips but nothing happended, I climbed onto the back seats and tried gently to prise out the speakers covers, but it wasnt budging a inch (or even a mm) anyone know how they should be accessed please? thanks as usual! Take a look at this how to. http://www.mercedesshop.com/Wikka/W124Stereo The rear speakers fit into 2 special plastic housings which clips into 2 predrilled holes in the rear shelf. The part no for this plastic housing is 124 827 05 14 but may be difficult to source now. If your car had speakers before then it will have them installed already. This speaker is also an odd size - 5 1/8. 127 mm so can be difficult to source. they just clip into the mounting Bosch probably still make them and MB Quart ( same initials different company)_ http://www.mbquartusa.com/main_caraudio.html used to do a pair. However most people enlarge the mounting holes in the parcel shelf and manufacture their own mounting plates with a custom speaker hole size/ screw mounts.A good thin waterproof plywood adapter plate is easily fabricated using a jig saw. This opens up your choice of speaker manufacturer enormously the nearest popular ( easy fit) being 13 cm wide. Some folks fit even bigger and an amp/ sub woofer in the boot etc but this entails a lot more metal removal. 7

THANKS so much , I have already ordered two vibe 5.25" 90W RMS speakers for the back but when they come I will try to fit them somehow, MDF rings is an option I read in another topic. The car had a sub which was removed and the rear speakers were totally removed too (i assume to be able to hear the sub) so no housing or clips just a hole to the boot. I am planning to put an 2 channel amp to feed just the rear ones as with only the front ones now it is annoying. thanks again i will let you know how it is going You must log in or register to reply here.
