ATC Classroom Observation Summary In The School-Year 2021–2022

Classroom observation of the Division of English for Banking and Finance (ATC), Faculty of Foreign Languages was updated from 2020 to 2022. More recently, three instructors, Tran Thi Thanh Giang, Nguyen Thi Mai Phuong, and Dao Thi Ngoc Nguyen, organized class observations and teaching experience exchange with 24 interested instructors on the topics of 3 modules: Reporting, Intercultural Communication, and Reading-Writing I.

 

Instructors then attended seminars at the end of each lecture to share their experiences, improve their teaching skills, and apply new technologies to education. The majority of lectures closely follow the course's learning outcomes and are scheduled according to the course syllabus. Some ESP modules, in particular, teach learners how to apply and think creatively. Teachers are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their subjects. There is also supplementary material available to support students in developing self-study skills.

Peer observation helps teachers not only attend classes, learn what their colleagues are teaching, but also gain experience and deal with real-time teacher-student interactions. As a result, they can improve their teaching weaknesses by directing the same questions in different situations. In addition to summarizing the team’s evaluation results, the students' own evaluation opinions are included.

Instructors can use each standard to evaluate student aspirations using the Office of Quality Assurance's student evaluation channel, which collects feedback from students. This also supports the Office to develop appropriate evaluation criteria, the Division to consider the use of coursebooks and reference materials, types of communication, awareness of the instructor's pedagogy, and so on. At the final meeting, teachers from specialized groups share challenges and solutions to improve the quality of their teaching, especially when technology tools are required.
