#1 · Oct 28, 2011 about to to order a hid kit for the dipped beam in my mk3, i know about the legal sides, and all the other bits, just wondering if i should go for H7 or H7R bulbs? cheers mike Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Oct 28, 2011 I've got H7's in mine. They seem to be ok but I wouldn't mind trying H7R's just out of interest. If I could order them again I would go for H7R's #3 · Oct 28, 2011 ordering h7rs now, second chopice is 4300k or 6k #4 · Oct 28, 2011 Short H7R bulbs are better than the H7 and H7R. #5 · Oct 28, 2011 Hi I have 5000K H7R fitted and they perform well, apparently, life expectancy of the short bulbs is reduced against the normal length version. If adjusted correctly in the MK3 Mondeo reflectors there is very little stray light above the bonnet line to annoy oncoming drivers. The only failing against the OEM headlight is that the area of the Halogen reflector is obviously larger than the HID projectors. Peter #6 · Oct 28, 2011 I've got h7r 6k and they are very good and very little glare. It's worth it and there is a big question mark of the legalities with the new mot laws coming in so the less glare the better #7 · Oct 28, 2011 h7r is whot was in the mondeo before i fitted the oem headlights. as for temp I'd go for the 4300k. have fitted 6000k replacement d2s's and they arnt the best. have got a pair of drilled up backs for the headlights if someone is interested. Tim #8 · Oct 31, 2011 This might be a dim question (no pun intended....) but what is the difference between H7 & H7R? #10 · Oct 31, 2011 H7R bulbs have part of the glass obscured. This is in theory so that they will work better with Reflector headlamps, rather than projector ones. 0 Reply #9 · Oct 31, 2011 h7r is suposed to work better with the reflector arrangement in the headlights #11 · Oct 31, 2011 Hi The idea is to mask portion of bulb, which creates the stray light above the bonnet line, causing dazzle to oncoming motorists.
