Click to expand...Before you spend any money on a radio de-coding service or go to VW, are you totally sure you have a factory installed unit? If factory installed your car should have a full height central cluster LCD screen which can display the navigation directions as below (this is a Bora cluster, but the central LCD is the same as an R32 full height cluster): Also if factory installed, your car should also have the triplex antenna on it as below: If you have a full height LCD display and the triplex antenna, then your Navigation unit is most likely factory installed and you should have the radio key code on a small card supplied in a MFD manual that looks similar to the normal service book but is about a third of the height of it, contained in a similar miniature black book. I couldn't find a a pic of the book on line, but here is the booklet that's inside it, usually the radio code is on the last page. #4 · May 2, 2017 (Edited by Moderator) VW will get you the code, give them the chassis number of your car, and serial number of radio and it 'should' work. (doesn't have to be factory fit) You may find the code has been written on the radio while doing this too. If that doesn't work there is a company on ebay who you can send it to and they'll decode it. charge £40 from memory and theyre in Paignton (I think), I used them myself and can recommend them The people offering to do it for £20 odd over the phone will be doing the same as VW #5 · May 3, 2017 Thank you all for your kind replies and info provided. Before I posted I did call my local VW Dealership but they were not to helpful and said I need to book it into service dept to get code . I am really frustrated as I put a jump pack on the terminals as to prevent this from happening , The battery must have gone flat before replacement and thus the code problem . I checked the ariel and clocks and it does seem it may have been factory fitted option. I do not have the NAV booklet , just the CD one and it has no code inside . I will get onto local dealer again . Once again thanks. This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
