    Last Updated: 13 Dec 2023 Please Note: Assessments for these qualifications now include the updated questions around the Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations - BS7671:2018 including Amendment 2. This qualification helps you to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to professionally carry out inspection and testing on electrical installations. This qualification offers three pathways depending on the type of inspection and testing required or previous qualifications gained by learners. We are issuing digital credential to learners who have completed this qualification. Please add your learners’ email address during registration. A digital credential cannot be issued without the learner’s email address. Available to deliver in the following:

    General Information

    What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

    This qualification delivers the specialist knowledge and skills you need, including appropriate legislation, inspection and testing techniques, completing and issuing certificates or reports and understanding of results and measurements. There are three options learners can take depending on their individual industry requirements, level of experience or prior knowledge. Candidates can choose to learn the skills involved in Inspection and Testing in stages or as a combined assessment. The options are:

    2391-50 Initial Verification: Intended for learners who wish to verify new installations and perhaps never need to carry out Periodic Inspection and Testing.

    2391-51 Periodic Inspection: Intended for learners who have previously gained qualifications in Initial Verification, perhaps through a recognised apprenticeship and wish to expand their skills to include reporting on the condition of existing electrical installations.

    2391-52 Combined Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection and Testing: Intended for experienced electricians who have never gained formal qualifications in inspection and testing or who may wish to update and reaffirm their skills.

    Assessment will be through a multiple-choice on-line test and a practical task.

    What Careers Can This Lead To?
    This qualification is intended for practicing electricians who want to expand their skills and knowledge in the area of Initial Verification and/or Periodic Inspection and continue their professional development. On successful completion learners can also progress on to the City & Guilds Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installations.
    What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?
    To deliver these qualifications you will need qualified assessors and suitable facilities. The requirements for these can be found in the qualification handbook. Centres who have been offering 2396 will be given automatic approval, all other centres will be need to fill out a full (QAP) qualification approval form.
