[:D] #3 · Aug 27, 2005 how much difference would and ecotek make on a 1.6 16V MKIV Golf? #4 · Aug 28, 2005 Sorry to say this but sell the car and get a faster one [:$]
i was wondering what can i do to the engine to make it a bit faster? just want to see ppls thoughts on the differnt methods. cheers nicky
#5 · Aug 28, 2005
Sorry to say this but sell the car and get a faster one [:$]
i was wondering what can i do to the engine to make it a bit faster? just want to see ppls thoughts on the differnt methods. cheers nicky

but if we all thought like that we wouldn't be able to laugh at chavs and ricers [:D] #6 · Aug 28, 2005 PMSL Hmm [^o)] Could you just humour me and tell me if it would do anything noticable to it please? #7 · Aug 28, 2005 well being almost serious for a moment and on a purely personal level, losing about 4 stones would help my power to weight ratio no end having owned a 2.0 FSi for nearly 2 months and the car being available for well over a year the only after market add on for the FSi models appears to be the flat type air filter for the 1.6 and a cylindrical one for a 2.0, and no specific gains are reported other than the usual vague "expect 2-3 HP increase and more driveability", with no user reviews or dynos to back em up not one [and I have looked through about 8 websites to date] aftermarket performance website offers anything else for the FSi brigade, the only glimmer of hope is superchips who suggest a 9BHP increase on a 2.0 FSi for ?300 oh well time to save for a GTi or an R32 [:(] #8 · Aug 29, 2005 Have you had a look on Custom-Code`s web site www.custom-code.co.uk We can offer normally aspirated engines a remap too. Sarah #9 · Aug 29, 2005 how about telling us precisely what you can do, your website like all the others lists nowt all the info is above Mk5 1.6FSi and 2.0 FSi dynos would be nice too [:)] #10 · Aug 30, 2005 Well as much as I would like the extra power, I personaly don't think it's worth the money... Will just have to save! Confused [8-)] #11 · Aug 30, 2005
how much difference would and ecotek make on a 1.6 16V MKIV Golf?
Sorry mate heres the link for it.. I'm not exactly sure how much difference it would make but when my father had two fitted to his 330ci it did make a difference in the lower revs and flat spots as a lot of people know that the straight 6 engine in the bmw suffer from low power under 3000rpm after that it just flies. Heres the link for there site http://www.ecotekplc.com/ #12 · Aug 30, 2005 Ill check it out.. thanks #13 · Aug 30, 2005 Is there any benefit to be had from buying new performance spark plugs? If so, is there any specific make I should go for? #14 · Oct 31, 2005 Would the ecotek work, as the FSi injects the fuel directly into the cylinder? #15 · Oct 31, 2005 Before going down the modified route decide exactly what you want and how much you want to spend, also consider insurance, lairy cams induction kits all give top end power and lose something at the bottom, so if you want to rev the nuts off to get anywhere then basic blueprinting exhaust cams will work. If your after a mild improvement look at getting an exhaust preferably cat back and a decent panel filter, also look to see who makes chips, (not looked so don't know) I guess you could improve power by 5-10 bhp maybe a little more. The next stage would be to find a dead GTi and do a conversion or if you have the 1.6 find a dead 2.0FSi and rob it of its engine. Someone would probably carry out a turbo conversion but its likely to cost ?5000 affect the resale value and still be no quicker than a GTi. Sadly the easiest way to more power is buying one, but then there isn't no fun in that [;)] Insert Quotes Post Reply
