Dan_G89 D I've had an issue with starting my Passat 2.0 TDI after driving it, can sometimes take up to 15 attempts to get it started - very frustrating when getting fuel etc. Had it out through the diagnostics and it's come back with an Engine speed sensor (crankshaft sensor) and camshaft sensor error. Guy at the garage tells me that it could be the cambelt as it's a bit strange to have both sensors go but he wouldn't be able to tell me what the issue is unless he spends a good amount of time (££££) taking the engine apart and testing the sensors. In short - am I getting mugged off? Has someone had this issue before with the same error codes? Do I get the Cambelt done and then see if the issue persists? Through the garage I'm looking an near £1200 if I were to get both sensors and cambelt done :( #1 · Mar 4, 2020 I've had an issue with starting my Passat 2.0 TDI after driving it, can sometimes take up to 15 attempts to get it started - very frustrating when getting fuel etc. Had it out through the diagnostics and it's come back with an Engine speed sensor (crankshaft sensor) and camshaft sensor error. More information is needed! #3 · Mar 5, 2020 First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!! Your car spec says 0, only what I've added from this post minus the year. As suggested: You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out. Post moved to a better section as we don't know the year as its not a general question. ;) #4 · Mar 5, 2020 The crank speed sensor, called a G28, is a VERY common failure on the BKP engine, I did one last week and it is an awful job as you have to remove the oil filter bracket. If you damage the 4mm hex in the screw that holds the sensor in, that means gearbox out plus the clutch, flywheel and sump off so the job can go VERY badly wrong just because they did not put the G28's screw inline with the hole, really stupid design. Image #5 · Mar 5, 2020 Yes nearly as bad as fitting a camshaft sensor to the CAYC engine unlike the earlier PD engine the timing belt has to be removed! #6 · Mar 5, 2020 The G40 is the least of a CAYC’s problems! #7 · Sep 4, 2023 I AM IN THE SAME POSITION VW WASTE OF £100 FOR VIDEO OF NOTHING TO DO WHY MY CAR WAS THERE MY MATES A GOOD MECHANIC AND HES SAID CAMSHAFT SENSOR AND HES STUMPED AFTER THAT THIS IS MY LAST VW Insert Quotes Post Reply
