#1 · Aug 22, 2015 Hey guys, I'm back (not that anyone remembers me hahaha) so I followed advice and spent more time playing guitar than talking about it BUT I need advice from the best, once again. So I decided (for some stupid reason) to downsize my gear because HEY I rarely play on full stacks live and jamming with it was overkill and I try to keep my gear to an effective minimum. So I sold my VHT FB 4x12 and kept my Nomades 4x12 because I love it. Since I will be playing only on one cab, I want to have a multi-speaker cab so I'm thinking of putting 2 Eminence Legend 120 (originally in a Vader cab) and 2 G12H100 (the model pre- k100) in an x-pattern to have a nice richer tone from only one cab. I have experience with G12k100 and G12t100 but not with the G12H100, few people do. I used to like the G12T100 (aka hot-100) in my Marshall 1960a 4x12, it's like a t75 but with more of everything and hold up better under high stress. So very compressed and "hot" G12K100 was totally different, less compressed and more aggressive but still a lot of bass but with better response but not as warm as the t100, tighter feel but darker. G12H100 - a guy is selling them to me here for a good price - are apparently close to the K100 but people keep saying they have a richer bass? Some people say they are not as bassy? Some people say they are as tight in the lows and some other people say the opposite. Some people say the K100 is more directional and the H100 has better spread. Some say the H100 is hallway between a k100 and a V30. Help? My gear is listed on the left here and FYI I scoop my mids in the 250-500hz and I peak them at 1000hz, I use a lot of low end and a rolled off Top end, while keeping some "richness" in the treble. I need to make this cab FLUB-PROOF and very bassy and rich sounding. Thump and Chunk. V30 is out of the question, they can't handle my tone and break-up to much at high volumes, G12h30 and Greenbacks are nice but a little bit to scooped for my sound and not bassy enough. Eminence Swamp Thang seems to miss some low mid chunk, and Tonkers lack a little bit of bass. If you have two cabs, just sell the one you like less IMO  #3 · Aug 22, 2015 Thanks, but already sold one cab, my main question here I guess is: does anyone havd experience with the Celestion G12H100 speakers? Also, a lot of shows we play are 200-300 people shows in tiny rooms where nothing is mic'ed so everyone plays super loud so multiple speakers are a must. I know lots of you guys play normal venues/clubs/bars with mics on everything but here we just play loud as hell, because of that we typically sound louder than the PA even if we're mic'ed hahaha our bars suck here. #4 · Aug 22, 2015 I play in one of the loudest stage volume bands I've ever witnessed let alone taken part of. I'm still not sure why you're hellbent on running an X-pattern - 10 feet back and people won't know. If you have a cab that is working well, just keep on truckin'. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" as they say. #5 · Aug 23, 2015 Alright, let's pretend I need a 4x12 cab, what speakers do you like/suggest (apart from v30 and g12t75)? #6 · Aug 24, 2015 If you want a modern tone, V30s get the job done pretty damn well. If you want more of the vintage vibe, my only experience there is the G12-65's in my JCM800 412 (now reissued via celestion I believe).
