Post by cheycaster on Apr 20, 2012 18:07:47 GMT -7 I have a convertible cab I bought from Frank that has a well broken in (especially after me honking it on with a 50W JCM800 combo through it for about 20 hard rockin hours) speaker that to me sounds really really good. Well, my buddy loaned me a 70th Anniversary G12H Celestion and I just installed it into my Z Convertible cab with my MAZ junior Verb combo. I really like it and can hear the difference between the V30 and it. They both sound great but I think the G12H30 is more for me with the Maz at 18 Watts. it seems to be more rounded out and smoother for a lack of better descriptions. Now I'd love to really try some "personalized Boutique" speakers in this thang! Something not so danged loud and allows me to play in the "sweet spot" way more of the time! Now, on to playing! | Last Edit: Apr 20, 2012 18:38:42 GMT -7 by cheycaster Waiting for the Sky to crack open and the Blessed Hope that follows

Post by cheycaster on Apr 20, 2012 18:45:31 GMT -7 Allright all you speaker trading out nuts, What the heck??? What speakers sound the BEST in a Maz junior amp for a guy who loves Hendrix,Trower,Blackmore Brewster,Iommi, etc?? I know that a tought and crazy question but I konw a lot of the Z forumites have done the speaker thang to death and I know there has to be "the" one for me that pretty much covers most of the bases. I also have a JCM800 1983 verticle input Marshall 50 W combo that I really love . It just does what the Maz really don't in a way but man it honks beautifully in a really nice way , especially for being totally stock except for it having 6L6's in it and some NOS RFT and JAN GE 12ax7wa's in it. I'd love to find the primo speakers for it. I have it the combo and it's matching closed back fron ported 1933 1x12 ext cab. Any suggestions as to what to look for I'm a classic toned player who loves a killer Strat tone first then a good ol LP type of sound as well// I know PS, I am NOT a chunker!!!! | Last Edit: Apr 20, 2012 18:46:02 GMT -7 by cheycaster Waiting for the Sky to crack open and the Blessed Hope that follows

Post by rickc007 on Apr 20, 2012 19:57:37 GMT -7 I'd go Heritage Greenback. Love that speaker, and not as loud as othersAs much as I've liked the G12H30 in amps in stores, it hasn't floated my boat for home use.

Post by Mark (Basement Enthusiast) on Apr 20, 2012 20:32:00 GMT -7 I wonder if perhaps the G12H30 (55Hz) model or maybe even the G12-65 might float your boat for that kind of stuff? | Currently own or have owned:M12, Z-Plus, Rx JS, Z Wreck Jr, Carmen Ghia, MAZ 18 Jr NR, Monza, Z-28, Route 66, Therapy, DB4, Remedy, Prescription, EZG-50, SRZ-65 LE, & Delta 88Z-Drive | Brake Lite SA & Air Brake

Post by cheycaster on Apr 21, 2012 5:45:40 GMT -7 I do have a TV 4x12 Cab that is loaded with two ET-65's and two Veteran 30's both WGS Speakers not broken in. I traded my little 2x10 Z old style cab I got for free after it was all said and done for this cab tfrom a close buddy. I have'nt used that big ol thang at all and since it's full of 8ohm speakers I'm too lazy to pull em out to try / compare them to my others.... But I should tho, at least that would give me a chance to try just an ET-65 alone......... | Waiting for the Sky to crack open and the Blessed Hope that follows

Post by cheycaster on Apr 21, 2012 8:04:40 GMT -7 Man, I do know one thang now, I'm loving the GH30 70th Anniversary speaker in my 1x12 Z convertible cab! Now it's got me thinking about the Celestion Creamback 65W speaker for my Marshall 1x12 combo and 1x12 ext cab. It has a sensitivity rating of 97db maybe? I might turn into a speaker swapping nut like a lot of Y'un Z bros are. Now I'm seeing or should I say hearing the light! | Last Edit: Apr 21, 2012 8:05:34 GMT -7 by cheycaster Waiting for the Sky to crack open and the Blessed Hope that follows

Post by jwri9790 on Apr 21, 2012 15:45:43 GMT -7 Austin Speaker Works KTS-60 is about 98dB and is an amazing recreation of a late 60s pre rola Celestion H30 55hz speaker. Or you could get the KTS-70 that is around 99dB. Best ceramic speakers on the market today.

Post by Deleted on Apr 21, 2012 20:17:47 GMT -7 I love the Celestion Gold with the maz Jr. I also had a G12H30 for a long time and its also good. The Gold by far is the cream of the crop. I am a huge Hendrix tone freak ( that is the tone I like)He used the G12H30 quite a bit towards the end of his career. Also the Weber Legacy is somethingyou may want to look into. I just bought two 30oz 75 hz 65 watt speakers for my Z-Best Remedycombination. Just to let you know how much I like that Gold I have another 1/12 cab open backwith a Gold in it that I use with the Remedy at church. That creamback may also be a good one too. The best news is you have options. I would highly recommend the Gold with the maz jr. | Last Edit: Apr 21, 2012 20:18:36 GMT -7 by Deleted

Post by cheycaster on Apr 22, 2012 6:29:26 GMT -7 Tanks Revrand! ;D Anyone know how much one of these G!@h30 70th anniversary speakers cost new? I probably could get this one I got to borrow for cheap from a buddy who has had it in a box in the closet for over a year and he bought it used as well. It's sounds great compared to the V30 cuz I think it being a 30 watt vs. a 65watt speaker gives me some great "straight in" tones and I'm thinking that could make for better pedal tones too but just all at a lower volume......That's THE biggee with me. The volume issue thanks Yall | Waiting for the Sky to crack open and the Blessed Hope that follows
