Location adelaide, australia Car(s) vw Golf mkv gti Hey is anyone here confronted by flashing hazard lights upon returning to your parked GTI? It's happened 3 or 4 times now. No alarm noise. No dents or scratches on the car. No one parked near it. I don't think the alarm's gone off, because one time it happened, I was within the vicinity to hear a sounding alarm. I don't know what's going on. Just that it flashes it's hazard lights like it's been on for ages. I just simply unlock the car (it is locked at this stage -so i haven't forgotten to lock it before leaving) and all the doors/hatch are securely locked) Once it did this, and the oil level low (I discovered this once I started the car). The only consistent feature is that this strange occurrence happens on hot sunny days. Am I going crazy? Any ideas lads/lasses? Straight ahead... zz2

Location Perth, Austraaaliya Car(s) GTI V it is because your alarm has gone off. but the siren only stays on for a short amount of time. yesterday when i had mine go off randomly whilst sitting in the garage and in the time it had taken me to stop what i was doing and go get my keys and walk down to the car it had switched off. when i got to it the siren was off but the lights were still flashing. it works on the same principle as a home or business alarm system where if the alarm has gone off the siren will not stay on for the whole time and yet the blue strobe will keep flashing until the alarm is deactivated. its just a precautionary measure to let you know the alarm has been tripped mark 'that's thirty minutes away... I'll be there in ten' zz2

Location Perth, Austraaaliya Car(s) GTI V oh i have also found that vibrations and even the heat can set it off. my alarm has gone off as a result of a lot of things, from people brushing past it, to loud exhausts.. my mates with their modded S15s and Skylines often set it off. when it went off yesterday i was working in the front yard of the house dumping bricks and rubble from a barrow into a skip bin. the garage was right next to the bin and it still went off. the alarms can also be set off by little critters inside the car... like moths as a member on this forum found out lol mark 'that's thirty minutes away... I'll be there in ten' M

Location Sydney Car(s) MY08 Golf R32 Sound is a big culprit... Porsche alarms don't like R32's in underground carparks. If i shift from 1st to 2nd at ~2500 rpm and then back off and let it fart, it never fails to get things going. I've noticed that heat really screws with the sensors... Has anyone else with leather seats had seatbelt warnings on hot days when the passenger seat is empty? I just slap the seat surface and it seems to go away. M

I have been parking my car at work with the windows partly down & the roof up for the last few days (35deg +). The alarm seems to be going off all the time - never happened with the windows up / roof closed, so I assumed it was a moth flying in there or something??? At work, anything's possible though, airconditioning compressor vibrations, people using angle grinders - who knows? Lima

Location Canberra, Australia You can switch off the motion sensor with the funny button near the b-pillar (or at least that's where it is on the 3drs). MY80 GTI | MY07 GTI 3dr | MY10 S3 3dr ApexTwin

I think you can also press the lock button twice to do this... or is that to deactivate the alarm completely, can't remember. Seems like you guys have very sensitive alarms - I sat in the car once waving my arms around like a mad man, trying to set the alarm off.
